Interview with Barack Obama on his “Faith”…

November 12, 2008 by PUMA Pundit · 4 Comments

I know it hasn’t dawned on America that the Barack Obama who was elected isn’t the real Barack Obama, but slowly and steadily that picture is beginning to emerge.

Here are a few excerpts as taken from belief.net:

The most detailed and fascinating explication of Barack Obama’s faith came in a 2004 interview he gave Chicago Sun Times columnist Cathleen Falsani when he was running for U.S. Senate in Illinois.

The column she wrote about the interview has been quoted and misquoted many times over, but she’d never before published the full transcript in a major publication.

FALSANI
Do you still attend Trinity?

OBAMA:
Yep. Every week. 11 oclock service.

Ever been there? Good service.

I actually wrote a book called Dreams from My Father, it’s kind of a meditation on race. There’s a whole chapter on the church in that, and my first visits to Trinity.

and

FALSANI:
Do you have people in your life that you look to for guidance?

OBAMA:
Well, my pastor [Jeremiah Wright] is certainly someone who I have an enormous amount of respect for.

I have a number of friends who are ministers. Reverend Meeks is a close friend and colleague of mine in the state Senate. Father Michael Pfleger is a dear friend, and somebody I interact with closely.

FALSANI:
Those two will keep you on your toes.

OBAMA:
And theyr’e good friends. Because both of them are in the public eye, there are ways we can all reflect on what’s happening to each of us in ways that are useful.

I think they can help me, they can appreciate certain specific challenges that I go through as a public figure.

and

OBAMA:
Obviously as an African American politician rooted in the African American community, I spend a lot of time in the black church. I have no qualms in those settings in participating fully in those services and celebrating my God in that wonderful community that is the black church.

(he pauses)
But I also try to be . . . Rarely in those settings do people come up to me and say, what are your beliefs. They are going to presume, and rightly so. Although they may presume a set of doctrines that I subscribe to that I don’t necessarily subscribe to.

But I don’t think that’s unique to me. I think that each of us when we walk into our church or mosque or synagogue are interpreting that experience in different ways, are reading scriptures in different ways and are arriving at our own understanding at different ways and in different phases.

I don’t know a healthy congregation or an effective minister who doesn’t recognize that.

If all it took was someone proclaiming I believe Jesus Christ and that he died for my sins, and that was all there was to it, people wouldn’t have to keep coming to church, would they.

and

FALSANI:
Where do you find spiritual inspiration? Music, nature, literature, people, a conduit you plug into?

OBAMA:
There are so many.

Nothing is more powerful than the black church experience. A good choir and a good sermon in the black church, it’s pretty hard not to be move and be transported.

I can be transported by watching a good performance of Hamlet, or reading Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon, or listening to Miles Davis.

Yikes… Obama compares the USA to… Nazi Germany!

October 27, 2008 by PUMA Pundit · 1 Comment

As is common knowledge by now, Obama spoke about how the redistribution of wealth is a right that ought to be enshrined in the consitution.

In the same audio recording, Obama goes even further, and argues that during the time of Brown vs. Board of Education, the doctrines of Nazism that folks were fighting against in WWII, were the same doctrines we were the United States of America had back home:

The link to the audio is here: Chicago Public
Radio - Audio Library: Odyssey
. This excerpt starts at 15:30:

…just to take a, sort of a realist perspective…there’s a lot of change going on outside of the Court, um, that, that judges essentially have to take judicial notice of. I mean you’ve got World War II, you’ve got uh, uh, uh, the doctrines of Nazism, that, that we are fighting against, that start looking uncomfortably similar to what we have going on, back here at home.”

Now I don’t know about you, but I think Nazism is the worst scourge mankind has faced in the modern age. To compare Nazi Germany, a governing system complete with the Gestapo, the SS, Gas Chambers, Mass Graves, Pogroms, etc with what was going on in a democratic United States is beyond ridiculous, it is simply bizzare. However, when you consider the fact that this was a Barack Obama who hung out with Reverend Wright of “God Damn America” fame, it seems perfectly normal.

What is more bizzare is that a man who can make such a foolish comparison publicly would be taken as a viable contender for the Presidency by a large segment of the voting public.

Speaking of Nazi tactics, here is Barbara West on her Joe Biden interview experience and what it bodes for democracy…

Question: Does Barack Obama Have Any Friends Who AREN’T Communists?

October 17, 2008 by PUMA Pundit · 6 Comments

I came across this earlier today at the Jawa Report, and figured I might as well share.  Hmmmm

The news of Barack Obama’s close relationship with Frank Marshall Davis has been around before, but it’s important. Via Accuracy in Media:

[T]hrough Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his “poetry” and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just “Frank.”The reason is apparent: Davis was a known communist who belonged to a party subservient to the Soviet Union. In fact, the 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA member.

Aren’t we seeing a pattern here? One interaction with one old communist isn’t particularly troubling. A handful of sporadic interactions with a handful of radical left-wingers may not be particularly troubling. But a lifelong pattern of extended associations and alliances with scores of fringe, America-hating radicals is very, very troubling indeed.

Just to be clear:

It’s not just that Barack Obama’s father was a Marxist economist or that his mother Stanley came from radical far-left roots.

It’s not just that Obama’s childhood mentor Frank Marshall Davis was a famous communist poet.

It’s not just that Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor, counselor and spiritual mentor of 20 years is a racist, America-hating radical.

It’s not just that Michael Phleger, Obama’s other spiritual mentor is every bit as extreme as Wright.

It’s not just that his wife Michelle has never been really that proud of America, or that she thinks this country is “mean“.

It’s not just that Obama refused to wear a flag, or that he refused to salute it during the national anthem.

It’s not just that Obama’s political and financial benefactor William Ayers is an unrepentant radical socialist terrorist.

It’s not just that Bernadine Dhorn regrets that she didn’t kill more people back in the 1960s.

It’s not just that Alice Palmer, Obama’s political mentor in Chicago, was a communist propagandist.

It’s not just that Obama was a member of the radical socialist New Party or that he ran as a candidate for public office under their far-left platform.

It’s not just that Obama was an agitator, trainer and attorney for the corrupt and radical-left ACORN.

None of these facts, by itself, tells you that much about Barack Obama. A reasonable person should, however, be able to look at this motley crew of left-wing communists and America-haters, realize that Barack Obama’s rolodex is a veritable Who’s Who of American Socialism, be very, very disturbed by that fact and ask some very probing questions about WHO Barack Obama is, WHAT he believes, and WHY this gang of radical America-haters considers Barack Obama such a good friend.

The Secret Scrapbook of Barry Soetoro AKA Barack Obama…

October 15, 2008 by PUMA Pundit · 3 Comments

Taken wholesale from Doug Ross @ Journal

The secret scrapbook of Barry Soetoro Barack Obama

My early mentor “Frank” in Hawaii. Pity the neocons found out who it really was!

Here’s my original registration at my first school in Jakarta, Indonesia. It has my old name (Barry Soetoro) with my religion listed as Islam. Go figure.

My grass roots organizing days, training ACORN (note: I don’t condone trading crack cocaine for votes - “aggressive” voter registration: yes, crack: no).

At the beginning of my political career. I was a member of the Democratic Socialists of America’s New Party and got a great endorsement from them. Stepping stones, baby, stepping stones! Of course, I still believe in wealth redistribution!

My first sugar daddy — Tony Rezko – in the early years. And to think I used to consider 250 grand a lot of dough!

The education guru, Bill Ayers! Thank goodness no one ever figured out that he named me the Chairman of the Annenberg Challenge before the political “coming out party” at his and Bernadine’s house!

Here’s me and Jimmy Hoffa (the son, silly, I was only 9 when his Dad disappeared!)

My spiritual mentor, Jeremiah, who always gets the crowd riled up! (Of course, I never heard any of it — tee hee!)

Me and Michie at the Arab-American Action Network dinner with Ed Said (hey, he’s no longer a member of the PLO, ’cause he’s dead!)

Boy, this church newsletter caused me some problems! Jeremiah published this Hamas editorial and I heard no end of grief. Of course, no one in the real world knows I read it and empathize!

My buddy the Rev. James Meeks (I know he’s a gay-basher, but he mixes a great martini!)

This is from my trip to Kenya in ‘96 where I supported my cousin Raila Odinga. He was also running for office. He’s a great guy who wants to bring order back to the country (I know so because he signed this “Memorandum of Understanding” to bring Taliban-style Sharia law to Kenya)!

Two community organizers make good!

Back in the motherland!

Here’s ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick — he’s in a bit of legal trouble, but I included this photo ‘cuz it shows my favorite teleprompter.

I hate that b***h!

I LOVE THIS GUY!

When it comes to education, Barack Obama would leave your kids behind, but not his…

October 15, 2008 by PUMA Pundit · 1 Comment

While running for Congress against Bobby Rush in 2000, Barack Obama spoke about his experience:

“I have chaired major philanthropic efforts on the city, like the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) that gave $50 million to prompt school-reform efforts throughout the city.”

The IBD article goes on to state:

The CAC operated in 210 Chicago schools between 1996 and 2001. At the CAC’s conclusion, an evaluation report was prepared and titled, “The Chicago Annenberg Challenge: Successes, Failures, and Lessons for the Future Final Technical Report of the Chicago Annenberg Research Project.

On page 14 of the executive summary we find that “the Challenge had little impact on student outcomes.” On page 15, the report says: “There were no statistically significant differences between Annenberg schools and non-Annenberg schools in rates of achievement gain” and that “any improvements were much like those occurring in demographically similar non-Annenberg schools.”

In 1998-99, just 36% of the Annenberg school students in grades three through eight were reading at or above national norms compared with 35% in Chicago schools citywide. In math, the results were similar. Some 43% of Annenberg students were at or above national norms versus 42% for non-Annenberg students.

High school graduation rates for both groups of students were the same at 40%. The Annenberg schools edged out Chicago schools in dropout rates — 35% to 36%. As the report said, there were no signs of improvement that warranted the expenditure of $160 million.

The CAC did not improve the schools, and in some ways made things worse. The executive summary also notes: “Classroom behavior, students’ sense of self-efficacy, and social competence were weaker in 2001 than before the Challenge.”

The report stated: “In 2001, students in Annenberg schools were somewhat less inclined than in 1994 to respect each other, work well together and help each other learn.”

So in terms of actually getting results it seems Obama’s efforts were a dismal failure…

Based on these results, Barack Obama would have trouble getting chosen as a high school principal. Yet he thought they were worthy of promoting him first to congressman and now to the presidency of the United States.

When Obama collected the endorsement of the American Federation of Teachers, he told the teachers that support for alternatives to the education monopoly amounted to “tired rhetoric about vouchers and school choice” even though efforts like the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship, unlike those of the CAC, have produced stunning improvements.

Not being left behind are Obama’s daughters, who attend the private University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. There the tuition ranges from $15,528 for kindergarten to $20,445 for high school. When asked about it during last year’s YouTube debate, Sen. Obama responded that it was “the best option” for his children.

So, let’s understand this, the one thing that Obama has listed as a testament to his executive leadership is something he would not even have his own biological children take advantage of? Interesting, isn’t it?

But that’s not all. Guess who set up the Chicago Annenberg Challenge? Why, Bill Ayers of course. He set it up and put none other than a wet behind the ears Barack Obama in charge of it, Barack Obama then went on and disbursed money from it to his friends such as Reverend Jeremiah Wright, friends who in turn gave him campaign contributions or got him votes… For your viewing pleasure, here is a video linking it all together:

The curious case of Farrakhan calling Obama “The Messiah”, Carol Moseley-Braun, ACORN, Jeremiah Wright and Wealth Redistribution…

October 13, 2008 by PUMA Pundit · 15 Comments

Contrary to popular belief, I am not one who is into conspiracy theories, however between my degree in Political Science, and my involvement in politics, forgive me if I don’t come to conclusions based on sound bites.

Recently I’ve received numerous links to the (in)famous video of Louis “Calypso Lou” Farrakhan referring to Barack Obama as “The Messiah”. I thought nothing of it as I know Farrakhan is one who engages in grandiloquent verbosity on a regular basis.

Either way, I still wanted to see what link if any, there is between Barack Hussein Obama and Calypso Lou. For the record, I have no respect for Louis Farrakhan whatsoever for two reasons:

1: His “alleged” involvement in the murder of Malcolm X in order to consolidate his grip on the rank and file of the NOI (Nation of Islam).

2: His prolific support for one of Africa’s most corrupt and brutal dictators, Nigeria’s Sani Abacha, support which was shared by the then Illinois Senator, Carol Moseley-Braun, (the first black woman elected to the US Senate.)

Obama had coordinated “Chicago Project Vote” an ACORN backed community initiative which registered 150,000 “new” voters and helped propel Moseley-Braun to victory in 1992. Moseley-Braun however lost her seat in 1998 after allegations of campaign contribution improprieties rocked her re-election bid. Columnist George Will had the following words of wisdom heaped on him by Moseley-Braun for daring to write about the corruption which was rife in her campaign:

“I think because he couldn’t say nigger, he said corrupt,” Moseley-Braun, who is black, said Monday following a Labor Day rally with fellow Democrats at Chicago’s Navy Pier.

The Democratic senator also made a reference to the Ku Klux Klan by calling criticism by Will and other conservatives “a substitute for their hood.”

Come to your own conclusions, but I personally doubt that Obama’s methods while working for ACORN are radically different from ACORN’s methods while working for Obama. Also, I am sure I am not the only one seeing parallels between Moseley-Braun’s demagoguery and that of Team Obama.

However, I digress. Let’s get back to the issue of Farrakhan.

Why would Farrakhan call Obama the “messiah”? Well, reading the platform of the NOI it becomes obvious that “wealth redistribution” aka “reparations” is a core belief of that organization , and of many black radicals outside it . Obviously, this is a sentiment most Americans do not share (for the record I do NOT think Barack Obama is still a Muslim)

Here is what Louis Farrakhan believes:

“When our fathers were brought into slavery, we were deprived of knowledge. To deprive us of knowledge is to deprive us of the power to generate thought, mind and the ability to think, act and direct our own lives. When we talk about reparations, we are talking about that which must come to repair the damage done to Black people.

Here is what Barack Obama believes and intends to do if elected:

Plumber to Obama: “Your new tax plan is going to tax me more. Isn’t it?”

Obama: “It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too. I think that when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Only difference is that Obama believes this should be done for all and not just the black community, I guess that’s where the influence of Bill Ayers comes in.

Coincidence? I think not. All this goes in line with the decisions reached in 1993 at a conference hosted by Louis Farrakhan which had representation from Trinity Church, Obama’s spiritual home since 1988:

Nearly 50 activists from across the country answered the call to discuss operational unity and a consolidation of efforts, in order to enhance and fortify the movement for reparations for Black people’s suffering in the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Representing Trinity Church and its pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Dr. Iva Carruthers spoke of equipping ministers beyond worship, and enabling them to effectively network, empower people and impact policy.

Again, I don’t know about you, but I would not chalk it up to coincidence that as far back as 1993 the groundwork for the emergence of a Manchurian CandidateBarack Obama was put in place. Now, 15 years later, Barack Obama is poised to enact the main agenda of that conference; the “redistribution of wealth” to use mainstream phraseology or “reparations” if one is to call it what it really is.

I guess, since Farrakhan believes he is finally about to get that what he has been striving for for decades, it is only fitting that he would call the man who is about to make it happen “the Messiah…”
