Palin says Obama probably regrets not picking Hillary…

September 12, 2008 by PUMA Pundit · 205 Comments

Hmmmm.

In tonight’s interview with Charlie Gibson on ABC, here’s part of what Sarah Palin had to say about Hillary Clinton:

“I think he’s regretting not picking her now, I do. What, what determination, and grit, and even grace through some tough shots that were fired her way — she handled those well,”

Stay tuned…

So much for the “Media Cocoon” around Sarah Palin…

September 9, 2008 by PUMA Pundit · 4 Comments

Obama bersekers are fond of touting the fact that Sarah Palin is being held in a media cocoon because she is not ready for primetime.

Well, according to a story in Politico, ABC’s Charlie Gibson shall be given unfettered access to Sarah Palin over the course of 2 days.

Now I don’t know about you, but I think if the campaign had some reservations about Sarah’s preparedness, they would have given a few controlled interviews here and there, they’ve done the exact opposite.

So I guess this is yet another Obama point debunked.

Here are a few excerpts from the story:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will speak at her son’s Army deployment ceremony on 9/11 and spend two days with ABC News crews later this week as part of a McCain campaign plan to increase Americans’ comfort with her as a leader.

Campaign and network officials had said on Sunday that her first television interview would be a sit-down with Charles Gibson of ABC’s “World News.”

But it turns out that she is spending much of Thursday and Friday with Gibson — at the ceremony in Fairbanks, Alaska, and at her home in Wasilla, Alaska.

Campaign aides said the anchorman will get extensive, repeated access to Palin throughout her first trip home since becoming the nominee.

“ABC News will have plenty of time to question her and examine her and spend time with her,” a campaign official said. “They’ll do multiple interviews over two days. No topics are off-limits – there are no ground rules. There’s tons of time to talk to her about every topic.”

and here’s a quote from Obama’s mentor:

Until now, Palin has been “sequestered,” as Sen. Joseph Biden (Del.), her Democratic counterpart, put it on NBC’s “Meet the Press” — delivering rousing speeches, but not giving interviews or holding news conferences or answering questions on the fly. She was the only one of the four national candidates not to appear on a Sunday show this weekend.

“Once you start, you don’t stop,” a Republican official said with a chuckle. “That doesn’t mean you run the faucet on high. But once you turn it on, you don’t really ever turn it off.”

and

Asked to describe her appeal, one official said: “I think she is accessible. I think she is honest. I think she is real, and I think she is fearless. In Alaska, she has been such a target because she has always fought for the interests of her constituents, because they’re her neighbors.”

The campaign adviser said: “She’s just this real, identifiable, approachable, funny, smart woman.”

Officials wouldn’t say how the ABC anchor was chosen. “There were lots of tremendous and credible and fair journalists to choose from,” an aide said. “Somebody had to go first.”

So so much for the “sequestered” theory. Incidentally, would any network have any desire whatsoever to spend 2 whole days with Joe Biden? I think not…

P.U.M.A Power- Geraldine Ferraro Talks About P.U.M.As on ABC…

September 3, 2008 by PUMA Pundit · 7 Comments

Sorry, too lazy to transcribe or find the video right now… But here is a partial transcript taken from Newsbusters, Geraldine as usual, makes a great case.

Here are some excerpts:

FERRARO: You know that, that, was a complaint that we heard from a lot of women. But to be quite frank, it wasn’t Hillary who was complaining. It was us. It was, it was me and several others. In fact if you take a look at the Hillary Clinton voters, there are some people there who are called PUMA….Those are the women who turned around and said that the sexism in the press was so bad during the primaries and they’re furious at the DNC, the Democratic National Committee, Howard Dean, and Barack Obama for not speaking up against this. And they say there’s this double standard. If racist — if the media had approached Barack Obama in a racist way, everybody would have been screaming and rightly so. With Hillary, not so. And one of the things I mentioned earler when I was on, on GMA, was I said, you know, there was a guy sitting there with a sign saying “iron my shirts.” Why didn’t the media report that? Does that not indicate that there is sexism in this country? [Actually, quite a few media outlets picked it up.]

Had somebody been there with a sign for Barack Obama that said shine my shoes, would there not have been a reporting of that? No double standard. No double standard. And there are those PUMA people are those people who say “we’re not going to vote for Barack Obama. We’re going to vote for John McCain. Or we’re going to write in Hillary, or what we’re going to do is we’re not going to do anything on the top line.” Those, some of those people, maybe John McCain will pick up. But, you know, it is, it is a very bad place to be. And I have to tell you, even Governor Palin thinks that’s whining. A lot of those PUMA people and I will be watching very carefully to make sure that you treat her just like anybody else. Go to her, her qualifications, go to her experience. Go to whatever you want to. But make sure it’s done on a basis where she’s treated like a guy by the media. No sexism. Because we’ll be looking.

As I said, great stuff. Only thing is this, Geraldine, what do you mean by “those PUMA people and I” ? You are A PUMA person ;-) So it’s ok, say it with me, “We PUMAs” ;-) See, easy, wasn’t it?
