Obama Approves Giving $400,000 of Taxpayer Money To Charities Run By Children of Libya’s Gadaffi…

By PUMA Pundit on September 24, 2009

The insanity never ends. Barack Obama has ordered the State Department to  give $400,000 of taxpayer money to charities run by Gadaffi’s children:

Saif Gadaffi- Gadaffi’s son who was involved in securing the release of Abdel Baset Megrahi, the individual who planted the bomb which blew up PanAm Flight 103 over Scotland. Pan Am Flight 103 Wreckage

and

Aisha Gadaffi- Gadaffi’s daughter who defended Saddam Hussein against war crimes charges.

Maybe Gadaffi’s foundation can help teach American children how to engage in even more advanced versions of hero worship.

CBS

The Obama Administration plans to give $400,000 in funding to a Libyan charity run by the Gadhafi family, and U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) wants the grant withdrawn.

The money would be divided between two foundations run by the family of Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi. A $200,000 share is set to go to the Gadhafi Development Foundation, which is run by Gadhafi’s son, Saif, and another $200,000 are to go to Wa Attassimou, an organization run by Muammar Gadhafi’s daughter, Aisha.

Kirk says the grants should be withdrawn in light of the recent return to Libya of Pan Am Flight 103 bomber Abdel Baset Megrahi. The terminally ill prisoner was released from in Scotland on compassionate grounds, and got a hero’s welcome from Muammar Gadhafi and other Libyans upon his return.

Saif Gadhafi was involved in negotiating for Megrahi’s release, and accompanied him back to Libya.

“Just weeks after the Gadhafi family celebrated the return of a terrorist responsible for the murders of 189 Americans, the U.S. taxpayer should not be asked to reward them with $400,000,” Kirk wrote to the president. “For the sake of the victims’ families who have endured so much pain these last few weeks, I ask you to withdraw your Administration’s request.”

The Gadhafi Development Foundation is described by the BBC as “a charity which tries to project a new and positive image of Libya.”

The U.S. State Department has not issued a response to Kirk’s request.

Obama to Directly Engage The Burmese Military Dictatorship…

By PUMA Pundit on September 23, 2009

Amazing, now we’re going to directly engage the military dictatorship in Burma. A regime that has kept the country’s duly elected Prime Minister, Aung San Suu Kyi imprisoned since 1990, suppressed democracy, and is before the International Court of Justice for crimes against humanity.

But I guess all that does not matter to Barack Obama.

Oh, incidentally, Burma’s foreign minister visited the White House earlier this week, although it was claimed he did not meet anyone from the Obama administration, well, that claim has been rubbished, isn’t it…

I shudder to think what would have happened had Obama been President when South Africa was still governed via the apartheid system…

Obama the Clueless

Bloomberg

The U.S. will engage directly with the military leaders in Myanmar as sanctions alone haven’t been effective, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said.

The U.S. will be “moving in a direction of both engagement and continued sanctions,” Clinton told reporters at the United Nations in New York. “We believe that sanctions remain an important part of our policy.”

By themselves, sanctions “have not produced the results” the U.S. wanted, she said.

The U.S. is leading international calls for the military, which has ruled the country formerly known as Burma since 1962, to make progress toward democracy and has dismissed the junta’s plans to hold elections next year under a new constitution as an attempt to retain power.

Clinton’s announcement is in keeping with decisions made by President Barack Obama to engage diplomatically with U.S. foes including Iran and North Korea.

The U.S. will provide more specifics on the engagement shortly, Clinton said, adding that “engagement versus sanctions” is a “false choice.” The U.S. has imposed trade and financial sanctions on the junta.

Myanmar is facing a critical year in 2010, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a statement after a meeting in New York of the Friends of Myanmar group that involved 11 foreign ministers, including Clinton.

“The first planned election in 20 years must be held in an inclusive and credible manner in order to advance the prospects for stability,” Ban said.

Prisoner Amnesty

Myanmar last week declared an amnesty for about 7,000 prisoners, a move Ban said fell “short of expectations.”

The military holds more than 2,000 political prisoners, including Buddhist monks, journalists and artists and has doubled the number of such detainees in the past two years, Human Rights Watch said in a report last week.

Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of the opposition National League for Democracy, remains under house arrest. She has spent 13 in detention since the NLD won elections in 1990, a result the military rejected.

Myanmar’s junta triggered international condemnation last month when it extended her custody order for 18 months after convicting the opposition leader of violating the terms of her detention. Suu Kyi, 64, is appealing against her conviction.

Senator’s Visit

Senator Jim Webb became the first senior U.S. official to meet with junta leader Senior General Than Shwe when the Virginia Democrat visited Myanmar last month and secured the release of John Yettaw.

Yettaw was imprisoned for swimming to Suu Kyi’s lakeside home in the former capital, Yangon, a visit that prompted charges to be brought against the opposition leader.

The UN has called on the junta to open “genuine” talks with Suu Kyi and begin national reconciliation.

Ban and Singapore’s Foreign Minister George Yeo, who also attended the meeting of the Friends of Myanmar, called for Suu Kyi’s release.

“Our engagement with Myanmar must take a longer term view beyond 2010,” Yeo said. “Singapore sees the army as being part of the problem, but also as a necessary part of the solution and in the end what’s required is a process of national reconciliation. It will take time.”

Singapore is part of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian nations, which includes Myanmar.

Video of Red Chinese Flag Being Flown In Washington DC Right Next to the White House

By PUMA Pundit on September 23, 2009

Wow, so under Barack Obama the Chinese flag was flown in Washington DC to celebrate the 60th anniversary of that country’s communist revolution.

Even if one wanted to write a fictional book on the destruction of America from within, he could not make it more surreal than what is happening under Barack Obama.

What next? The Iranian flag to celebrate the anniversary of the Iranian Islamic revolution?

At least Moammar Gadaffi’s son, Barack Obama, by allowing the flying of

China FlagChina’s flag next to the White House is allowing his actions to be consistent with his speech to the United Nations where he proudly proclaimed:

‘For those who question the character and cause of my nation, I ask you to look at the concrete actions we have taken in just nine months.’

Repressive Burmese Military Junta Leader Visits White House While Defacto Honduran President’s US Visa Revoked…

By PUMA Pundit on September 22, 2009

Under Obama’s orders, the State Department has granted visas to members of the Burmese military Junta, including the Country’s foreign minister, Major General Nyan Win, who also happened to unofficially visit the White House during his visit to Washington D.C (Obama administration officials claim he did not meet anyone from the US government).

A visa was also granted to the country’s Prime Minister, Gen Thein Sein, who is attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York . Thein Sein is scheduled to meet with Kurt M. Campbell, assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs to discuss US policy toward Burma, and also with Barack Obama for a photo Op. Burma

It seems everyone in the world other than Barack Obama is aware that the Burmese military junta has kept the country’s duly elected Prime Minister, Aung San Suu Kyi imprisoned since 1990, suppressed democracy, and is before the International Court of Justice for crimes against humanity.

Meanwhile, also acting under orders of Barack Obama, the State department revoked already existing visas from members of the defacto government of Honduras because contrary to Washington’s demands, it refuses to restore socialist President Zelaya to power, it matters not that Zelaya was removed via due process, and in accordance with provisions of the Honduran constitution…

As days go by, it is becoming increasingly apparent that there isn’t a dictator out there that Obama does NOT like.

DVB

Burmese foreign minister Nyan Win has arrived in New York after being granted permission to visit the Burmese embassy in Washington, a US official said yesterday.

A number of senior Burmese government ministers, including the prime minister, Thein Sein, are attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week.

The US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters yesterday that Nyan Win “made a side trip” to the embassy in Washington, but did not meet with any members of the US government.

Thein Sein, the most senior Burmese official to visit the US in over a decade, is leading a 15-member delegation at the General Assembly, which began yesterday.

Relations between the US and Burma are strained, although the Obama administration is reportedly close to finalizing its review of policy towards Burma, which has been subject to US sanctions since 1997.

Little is known about the possible outcome of the review, although US secretary of state Hillary Clinton spoke in February of the need for a revise policy in light of the failure of sanctions.

The US has been the fiercest critic of Burma, and ratcheted up pressure on the ruling junta following the sentencing of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi in August.

US senator Jim Webb’s visit to Burma in July, during which he met with both the junta supremo Than Shwe and Suu Kyi, marked the first time a senior US official has visited Burma in over a decade.

He followed the trip with an article in the New York Times which called for an easing of sanctions in favour of greater engagement with the regime.

Critics of sanctions have said that increased Chinese investment in Burma has dampened the impact of an economic embargo.

Oh My… To push health care reform; Barack Obama lies about Sasha Obama having Meningitis…

By PUMA Pundit on September 19, 2009

We all know Barack Obama is a shameless liar, but this takes the cake. He claimed that his daughter, Sasha, had meningitis when she was 4 months old. Perhaps unaware of this, or perhaps sticking to the truth, Michelle Obama FamilyObama in giving her own speech says something completely different; i.e Sasha never had meningitis.

Speaking on health insurance reform on 9/10/09, here is what Barack Obama said (Taken from a transcript posted at the White House)

When our youngest daughter, Sasha, was diagnosed with meningitis when she was just three months old, it was one of the scariest moments of my life. And we had to have a spinal tap administered and she ended up being in the hospital for three or four days. And it was touch and go, we didn’t know whether she’d be permanently affected by it. It was the nurses who walked us through what was happening and made sure that Sasha was okay.

Speaking on the very same issue, here is what Michelle Obama said yesterday 09/18/09: (Also taken from a transcript posted at the White House)

I will never forget the time eight years ago when Sasha was four months that she would not stop crying. And she was not a crier, so we knew something was wrong. So we fortunately were able to take her to our pediatrician that next morning. He examined her and same something’s wrong. We didn’t know what. But he told us that she could have meningitis. So we were terrified. He said, get to the emergency room right away.

And fortunately for us, things worked out, because she is now the Sasha that we all know and love today — (laughter) — who is causing me great — excitement. (Laughter.)

So a few things come to mind:

Firstly- if Obama would lie about his own family to make a point, what would he not lie about?

Secondly- With the proposal he is putting forward how likely would it that the scenario described above would have worked out for an average and ordinary person, i.e being able to see a doctor immediately, when with his proposal everyone would have access to the same care, and to see a doctor, everyone would have to take a number and wait their turn?

Either way, according to the NYT, she DID NOT have meningitis.
