Gojoebo,

The Mayan disappeared because of sociologico-political causes, not environmental causes. These great ancient civilizations:Aztecs, Incas, Mayas, etc. were absorbed, not by the melting of the polar circle, but by the gravitate of their own social cultural isolation.
PUMA pundit is noting that even when environmental talk is "in vogue", (and it might give you some "talk show time" or even a Nobel prize), does not really do anything for the advancement of our economic status, which depends on the market behavior not on the polar bear.

You cannot separate economics from the environment. You know, the Peruvians grow potatoes on the hillsides of the Andes Mountains. If the environment is polluted, then how do we grow our food and expect to get healthy crops? When the grape crops in California are affected by heat waves and global warming, the wineries can't make wine which affects us both locally and globally as CA wines are exported world wide. When the tomatoes are affected by drought, then we don't have tomato products. When the oranges are destroyed in Florida ... well, you get my drift. The point is pollution and global warming DOES affect economics. And yes, the Mayans were wiped out by drought and slash-and-burn techniques that destroyed future crops. Although peaceful peoples, in their latter years, they became desperate and began to implode by civil wars and killings, following the practices of the Aztecs. Why do I know--I am half Mayan and have done lots of research on this and have lived in Guatemala and Belize. Yes, they are poor in Guatemala, but they are so rich in wisdom and skills so many of us couldn't even fathom like textile weaving. Belize has certainly developed in the last couple of years, and Guatemala is improving their roads and infrastructure. Africa is the richest continent (and note I said continent--not country :-) in the world in terms of minerals and resources, but it has been almost destroyed by outsiders and environmental practices that will destroy its future. And political leaders in Africa such as Mugabe have not helped their peoples.

I could go on and on but the bottom line is that economics and the environment are NOT inseparable. This is why we need to be smart before we start doing the "drill baby drill" dance, ruining our own environment. Not to say we can't do some drilling but certainly not the way that Palin has proposed. Thank god that ticket wasn't voted into office. Whew!!!!

Alan Keyes is a bitter loser. He is using Obama to try to get attention as he is a non-entity. A "has been" who is full of it.

There are a lot of non stories posted here on this site. It's becoming clearer and clearer that the PUMAs are leaving the site. Seems the only non entity we hear from over and over with his ridiculous responses is Carmelo Junior. His responses are so off base that I have decided it is not worthwhile to even respond to him any more.

So having said that, I am putting my energy into supporting our new president because by supporting him, we are supporting all Americans. I attended a Fired Up event last night and it was so heartwarming to be with a group of people who are doing grassroots work to help our country get through the difficult challenges that Obama is now inheriting. Get involved at your local level--that's where change starts. I'm ready...

you miss the point entirely. whether you voted to make history or not, history was made not just for african americans but for the entire country. if you don't care about historic moments then don't come to dc for the inaugural. no one is forcing you to go. however, some of us will go and celebrate this momentous occasion on your behalf. i followed the campaign very closely and know that obama's campaign was run beautifully. it was based on a transparency and community engagement. hitler was a fascist. fasicists are not known for transparency or community engagement. if the obama campaign did not want folks involved and aware the campaign would not have developed so many avenues for people to get involved and be connected. and it was that strategy that won him the campaign and that has the world excited and ready to celebrate. so if thats how you define hypnosis then i'll be happily hypnotized. anything is better than the bitterness and paranoia you walk around with.

If you read the above 3 links, then you will LEARN the FACTS that it's ultimately the GOP's reliance on Reaganomics these last 8 years that has sunk our economy: Deregulation; High Deficits; Reduction of Revenue Intake by drastically lowering taxes on the Wealthy.

I mean, tell me how Bush's lowering of taxes on the rich early in his admin, has benefitted our economy 8 years later? Huh???

As for calling Clinton immoral: What is more immoral than Cheney, Bush, Rove LYING to the american people to get us to invade Iraq that the Bush Admin KNEW had NOTHING to do with 9/11!
Which has costed us almost a TRILLION dollars & over 4,000 troops! Almost twice as many as were killed in 9/11!

And just so that Cheney, Bush, Halliburton, Hunt Oil Company of TEXAS & Bush's other close corporate buddies could PROFITEER in Iraq over the corpses of 4,000 Americans!

Clinton getting a BJ never costed the loss of 4000 American lives just so that he could get rich profiteering in Iraq!

If you want to talk about immorality, then what about Gingrich's adultery, even as he lead the charge to impeach Clinton? Huh??
Or McCain cheating on his injured 1st wife & then abandoning her to marry his adultery partner - a heiress young enough to be his daughter!

Or how about Laura Bush who ran a redlight & killed her friend???
Google it if you dont believe!
http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/laura.asp

And about your assertion as to who is responsible for 9/11 = it was the Repub Admins of Reagan & BUSH Senior, that trained & funded Osama & what became Al Qaeda with money and weapons thru out the 80s!

And then abandoned them & Afghanistan after they had no more use for their al qaeda ALLIES, causing them to become increasingly more radical & anti-American!

And 9/11 occurred TEN MONTHS into the Bush Presidency, and occurred weeks AFTER Bush received a daily intel briefing specifically saying al qaeda was imminently close to flying commercial aircraft into landmark buildings! And Bush took NO action, to alert the FAA , FBI, etc!

Do you remember the female FBI agent that the 9/11 Report, showed was frantically trying to alert her Bosses to Saudi men who were learning to fly commercial jets at U.S. flight schools, without bothering to learn to land & take them off???

If Bush had put the FBI & FAA on alert, then her bosses would have took action, you Dumbasses!

So CarmeloJunior & PalinFan, stop being Dumbasses! And stick to the FACTS!

amazed,

I don't vote to make history, to have a black president or to be thrown into the popular bangwagon. I don't care about "historic moments". Obama got elected, I give him that and good for him and for African Americans. But I don't look at a person's skin, I look at the "character of his/her persona" . If you have followed Obama's campaign and have some knowledge of "mass hypnosis", propaganda, marketing, psychology and public affairs, you will notice that Obama's campaign ran the most "hypnotizing" political campaign in US history. Only compared to Hittler and Goebells's brain washing methods in Germany.

Why Martin Luther King refused to challenge LBJ for the Democrtaic nomination in 1967? He could have easily become our first TRUE black president. King had a dream of equality and freedom, not a dream of POWER and DECEIPT.

And the Buck stops at the President.

He kept us safe my Ass! His getting us UNECESSARILY into Iraq that he & cheney KNEW had NOTHING to do with 9/11 , has cost us over 4000 troops! Almost twice what we lost in 9/11.

And just so that he, cheney, Halliburton, Hunt Oil Co. of TEXAS, & Bush's other corporate buddies could PROFITEER on iraqi oil & over the corpses of the 4,000 troops that have been slaughtered in iraq!

Plus the GOP's stupidity has evaporated the goodwill the world once felt towards us after 9/11 & has also created ALOT more terrorists overseas who want to kill us. No American feels safe travelling overseas thanks to Bush. So get real.

This is the perfect receipt for disaster. Mutsada AlSadar wants Americans to leave so he can bring in his buddies from Iran by the kitchen's door, establish himself as a poweful political figure, take down the fragile democracy and post himself as the new Shah of Iraq. This is getting more dangerous by the minute. With Obama appointing the same inept losers of the Bill Clinton administration, Iraq might explode into a chaotic civil war between loyalist of the new goverment and these Iranian fanatics. Not talking about our old friends AlQuada trainees that will have a free way in the Pakistan border making havoc against our forces in Aghanistan. If Al Quada regroup in Iraq(as most likely will with Obama-Biden in power), Kenyan boy might be facing the worst disaster since the fall of Saigon.
The whole middle east might fall into the hands of Bin Laden, who, with no doubts, is aiming at Pakistan nukes from his cave there.
I'm so sorry for Hillary, but this coming disaster will make her guilty too.
The market meltdown would look like a walk in Central Park compared to this posible scenario.
