I understand how you feel, but please be assured that you’re not alone. Thanks for the article, and I’ve posted a link at another PUMA blog. These children’s books about BO just seem exceptionally creepy. Has any other POTUS in our lifetimes had children’s books written about them, published and distributed DURING their lifetimes, BEFORE even completing one year, much less one term, in office? Does this not seem like state-issued, state-controlled propaganda for the express, sole purpose of brainwashing impressionable young minds? There is no significant factual educational material in these books that would justify their being disseminated through our public elementary schools. They blatantly create an image of BO as some sort of god-like figure deserving of awe and worship. Does the demagoguery of this politician know no limits? Our tax dollars are funding the idolatry of a democratic opportunist. Can we not boycott the publisher(s)? We need letters/e-mails of strenuous protest to the Dept. of Education. Geesh…

I am so glad people don’t understand what is happening here. This man single handily has put a divide in this country. If you don’t see that you are blind in every way. I am so glad he kept all those political campaign promises he told the USA. 3 more years and he will be gone.

So,what’s it going to take BEFORE you parents decide enough’s enough? Quite giving this commie machine the fodder it needs to realize their dream of takeover! It’s time to pull your kids OUT of the government school and either home-school or private school.

Prioritizing what’s REALLY important in you child’s life should not include making your child a guinea pig in Obama’s quest to be Amerika’s savior!

I think we need to take a step back.

I posted comments on Ramparts 360 blog, and I hope everyone reads the conversation in the comments area.

While it remains every parent’s right to monitor what information is given to their children, P.U.M.A.’s allegation that these books are required reading was not vetted.

I have gone to the DOE site, as have other commentators, and nowhere does it mention these books. In fact, no books are listed as required reading for this event.. there are some activities, a youtube contest with a $1000 prize and discussion questions offered in conjunction with the speech.

Vitriol is understandable, and anger is your right.. I would absolutely stand by you if these books were, indeed, listed as required reading. However, the existence of this government issued reading list is false, and as an observer, weakens your position to one as spreading incorrect rumors.

In the spirit of discussion and civil debate, I am open to being proven wrong…if anyone can find a link from the .gov site (and not a blog, which can be written by anyone) where these books are posted as required, I will stand with you, corrected and in agreement that this is an incorrect approach to our nation’s youth.

But as it stands, this post regarding that these books are required reading is false information, and, in good conscience, should be amended. Inciting anger in people over falsehoods is not democracy, but propaganda.

Thanks for you time, my contact information is annameishun@yahoo.com. I appreciate your hearing me out.

    best regards,
    A-

Please provide a link that proves this information to be true. I believe this to be only propaganda because I cannot find any so called list of books that the children are expected to read. The US Dept of Education website contains only the information that prior to the broadcast, ” Teachers can build background knowledge about the Presidnet of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidnets and Barack Obama.” From that sentence, how do you come up with this sensationalist position expressed above and now being quoted on many conservative (and apparently uninformed) blogs?

I swear he is like the antichrist – never have I seen anyone think so much of themselves when in the White House. What an ego, I find it hard to listen to him speak or even look at him, just makes me gag to think what he is doing to this country and the devisiveness he employs.
