Q. How dumb is Joe Biden?
A. I suspect this will become a recurring question in this column, as it gets asked nearly every time he does or says something stupid. For the record I always respond by answering “Very”. Last week he nearly caused a swine flu panic, this time he:
a.) Gave away the secret location to the bunker intended to house him in case of a national emergency or attack. Not that I mind in his case.
b.) Gave one of the most incoherent commencement speeches ever. I mean incoherent by even Biden’s standards. You’d think The Pres. would loan him a speechwriter. Or two. Or three.
You can find the highlights here:
c) Acknowledged the fact that Obama has NO IDEA what to do with the Gitmo detainees despite his campaign promise to close the facility by Jan. 2010.
Remember the joke about how voting for McCain would mean ending up with an idiot VP? I think I get it now.

Q. How dumb is Nancy Pelosi?
A. About as dumb as her stories keep getting. Let’s take a look:
story#1: she was not briefed at all on waterboarding.
Result: Turns out her schedule had the exact dates and locations of a series of briefings by the CIA regarding waterboarding
story #2: She said that she was briefed, but NOT told specifically about waterboarding.
Result: CIA memos indicated that waterboarding was in fact covered during her briefings.
Story#3: She said that she was briefed on waterboarding, but was told that it was an option that may be used, but not necessarily one that would be used.
Result: Former CIA director Porter Goss disputed this, indicating that the CIA went on record in regards to who was waterboarded and when.
Story#4: The CIA deliberately misled her and Congress on waterboarding.
Result: No one in congress will back her up on this one, and CIA notes indicate she was told everything, from who was being waterboarded to what information was uncovered. In fact, records indicate Pelosi pressed the agency to do more, and on several occasions asked if they were going far enough.
Now she’s refusing to comment any further on the matter. It took her 4 different stories to come to that sensible conclusion. Dumb rating: somewhere between Napolitano and Biden, but not dumber than Biden.
I’m pretty sure Biden would have found a way to keep digging the hole she’s placed herself in.
Speaking of which…
Q. How dumb is President Obama?
A. Dumb enough to keep on picking fights that blow up in his face. Beating McCain was one thing, but Obama doesn’t stand a chance when going up against people WHO ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. You’d think he would have learned his lesson after Rush Limbaugh put him in his place earlier this year, but since his arrogance is only exceeded by his ignorance (or is it the other way around?), he thought it prudent to go after The Bush Administration, Dick Cheney, and The CIA.
How’d it all work out?
Well, for starters, Dick Cheney worked him over like Pacquaio did De La Hoya. Obama scrambled to put together a speech defending his position on waterboarding and closing Gitmo and tried to show up Dick Cheney’s national security address at AEI by scheduling it at the same time. Just like that, he elevated an unpopular, washed up ex-Vice President to his stature, and made significant a man who was completely marginalized as recently as LAST WEEK. That’s pretty impressive. Think it seems petty and childish for a sitting President to go after a private citizen? Me too.
Cheney calmly went down the list and countered every single lie, inconsistency, and misleading statement by Obama regarding national security and the War on Terror and then presented the actual facts of the matter in each case. Obama’s speech was his usual hope and change rhetoric. Apparently Congress wasn’t fooled; they voted 90-6 to strip him of any funding for relocating Gitmo detainees without a plan a day earlier, and didn’t reverse their stance afterward. 90-6!!! Nice black eye to go with the fat lip Cheney left him.
Mr. “The dog ate my birth certificate” also has no clue what to do with respect to Pelosi and the CIA. Releasing those CIA EIT memos just to embarrass Bush must now seem like a stupid idea to him in retrospect. It certainly got Pelosi into trouble, and caused a flare up between her and the CIA-one he can’t choose sides on. If he picks the CIA, Pelosi will have a field day with him on legislative issues, undermining him at every turn. If he picks Pelosi, the CIA will simply choose not to push hard in their search for intelligence out of fear of prosecution, or allow a few damaging leaks, and there will go his “overseas contingency operation”. Those same memos prove waterboarding prevented terror plots, too. What’s a community organizer to do? I thought Obama “inherited” all of his messes? Looks like he’s perfectly adept at creating some of his own.
Finally, regarding The Bush Administration, Obama vindicates Bush each time he adapts one of the Bush policies he spent 2 years trashing in order to get elected. From military tribunals to warrantless wiretapping; it’s all in there. I know, it’s weird that he blames Bush for everything but then proceeds to act like him on well, everything (spending, the environment, national security, and even the war effort). Reality has a nasty habit of encroaching on rhetoric and false campaign promises, doesn’t it? Not as easy to lead as it is to bash, is it? That’s a lesson he should have learned much earlier in his political “career”, but who can find the time with all that campaigning?
Liberals will argue he’s transparent and I agree; you can see right through him.
Q. What are your thoughts on the smear campaign against Carrie Prejean?
A. Memorize these two words: Liberal Hypocrisy. All their talk of tolerance, acceptance, inclusiveness, etc.? It only applies when you think THE WAY THEY WANT YOU TO THINK. Of course Ms. Prejean’s stance on the issue matches our President’s, but not surprisingly, he was spared.
It always annoys me the way Conservatives get painted as being dogmatic and close-minded, while liberals can launch vile, disgusting attacks at will on anyone who dares disagree with them. People like Letterman, Sykes, Garofalo and Olbermann do it ad nauseum. Even more ridiculous is the assumption that they’re somehow more “sensitive” to and “respectful” of disparaged groups. Tell that to the Special Olympics kids Obama made fun of.
I got my first taste of this when I was about 8 or 9. Clarence Thomas had just been picked for the Supreme Court but because he was a Conservative, the libs went on the attack. My parents, who were liberal and politically active, couldn’t understand why the Democrat party-the one they thought specialized in helping us black folks (which is false given its history)-was putting so much effort into shutting down his selection.
I realized then that liberals only support minorities whom they can control, exploit, and group into voting blocs. In other words, if you’re a minority (woman, black, asian, etc.) with Conservative values, they’ll conveniently forget all the “peace on earth” stuff and tear you down like there’s no tomorrow. I suspect this may be the reason why my mom didn’t make more of an effort to try and indoctrinate me once she saw that first Reagan poster. With her, my freedom of thought was never up for negotiation or subject to intimidation simply because of the way I look; identity politics is a game best left for liberals to play.
Q: Who’s the single biggest eco-scofflaw in the United States?
A: That would be Al Gore. Yes, THAT Al Gore, the environmentalist. His carbon footprint is figuratively the size of Paul Bunyan’s. He uses about 22 times the amount of electricity as an average American. The average household in America consumes about 10,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, and Gore used well over 221,000. His natural gas bills and fuel costs for his private jet are through the roof as well. Remember the two words I told you to memorize?
For the hell of it, I calculated my own total energy use from last year (electric bills, natural gas, and gas for my car) and did a comparison. My own carbon footprint is about 0.04% of Al Gore’s. An Inconvenient Truth indeed. If this were an episode of “Captain Planet” he would be on the run.
Q: Dr. D, what are your thoughts on Obama taking over GM? Do you think he can turn it around since Americans will want to support him?
A: If by turning it around you mean putting the final nail in GM’s coffin? Then yes. He’s taken half of the company and handed the other half to the UAW, screwing over the bondholders in the process to cater to his union buddies. In case you were wondering, those bondholders are average Americans who stand to lose upwards of 90% of their investments.
The next step will be to order GM to manufacture cars that meet his new fuel efficiency standards, at a price of more than 1300 bucks extra per car, and block them from cost cutting measures like opening plants overseas or cutting union benefits. Which would be impossible anyway given the union’s ownership.
So let’s me get this straight: our fiscally irresponsible government has teamed up with a union to manufacture more expensive cars, that Americans already do not want to buy, at a higher cost, while paying off the same union benefits that helped drive the company into bankruptcy to begin with-with our tax dollars.
This is the master plan the Obama Administration has concocted-changing GM from a badly run car company into a badly run entitlement program for auto union workers.
I’m now getting a sense of what it must have been like during Kennedy’s Cabinet meetings when the “smartest guys in the room” all agreed the Bay of Pigs would be a good idea.
