Senator Charles Grassley, an Iowa Republican has asked Microsoft to layoff “similarly qualified” foreign guest workers with H-B1 visas before it lays off American employees. Forbes
“I am concerned that Microsoft will be retaining foreign guest workers rather than similarly qualified American employees when it implements its layoff plan,” Sen. Charles Grassley, an Iowa Republican, said in a Jan. 22 letter.
Now I am not sure what the point of the Senator’s letter is, but I would assume that Microsoft’s primary concern when laying off workers would be to layoff those who contribute the least to the company’s profitability.
National origin considerations should have absolutely nothing to do with the criteria used in coming to a decision…
