Awesome! President Obama- No More Lobbyists- Harry Reid: Of course we’ll still have lobbyists…

So are lobbyists in or out? Depends on whom you choose to believe. Here is President Obama in his inaugural address:

But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests has surely passed.

But guess what our esteemed Senate Majority Leader’s position is on that issue: ABC

Reid invited top lobbyists to join him and his supporters for an inaugural brunch Monday where he told ABC News that he will still do plenty of business with them.

“And there’s nothing wrong with that,” said Reid. “And Obama will be meeting with them too.” When asked to clarify his remarks, given Obama’s promises to change that part of Capitol culture, Reid responded that lobbyists are part and parcel of the job.

    P-BO always has a way around a campaign promise. His policy of “no lobbyists” in the Whitehouse looked odd when he appointed William J. Lynn III, for deputy defense secretary. He is a former lobbyist for Raytheon, a defense contractor but hasn’t been a registered lobbyist since July, meaning he can’t personally lobby Congress or the White House. In the first three months of 2008, his lobbying team reported spending $1.15 million to influence issues. The transition team says his experience is worth more than a campaign promise – just like Geithner I guess. The team said they will work closely with him to be sure Obama’s high ethical standards are maintained. I guess they will appoint someone to oversee Timmy to see that he quits cheating on his taxes???

    But what do you expect – P-BO said he wouldn’t take money from lobbyists during his campaign – but he thought it didn’t count to take it from their SPOUSES.
