TO BE FAIR:

What Obama said:
"[w]e've got to get the job done there [in Afghanistan] and that requires us to have enough troops so that we're not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous pressure over there."

On the August 15, 2007, edition of Hannity & Colmes, Hannity falsely suggested that Obama "attack[ed] our troops as murderers," and on the August 21, 2007, show, claimed that Obama's comments were "not true." In fact, U.S. airstrikes in Afghanistan -- and accounts of resulting civilian casualties -- have been widely reported in the media and have reportedly provoked criticism from Afghan President Hamid Karzai and a British commander stationed there. Additionally, the Associated Press reported in a "Fact Check" responding to conservative attacks on Obama: "Western forces have been killing [Afghan] civilians at a faster rate than the insurgents."

As of Aug. 1, the AP count shows that while militants killed 231 civilians in attacks in 2007, Western forces killed 286. Another 20 were killed in crossfire that can't be attributed to one party.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai expressed his concern about the civilian deaths during a meeting last week with President Bush.

Bush said he understands the agony that Afghans feel over the loss of innocent lives and that he is doing everything he can to protect them. He said the Taliban are using civilians as human shields and have no regard for their lives.

But Western unwillingness to accept casualties among their own soldiers and a shortage of ground troops means commanders often turn to air power to beat the Taliban, and that almost inevitably leads to civilians [sic] deaths, military analysts say.

Carmelo,

What you are TRYING to say is almost true. The military tends to favor Republicans. That is true. How you say it is the problem. The way you say it appears to say who is and who ISNT "PRO-Military". Therein lies the problem.

The members of the U.S. Military are some of the finest heroes in the world. But to say that some people or politicans are more "Pro-Military" than others is akin to some of the (divisive) things that Sarah said on the campaign trail. Now, to be sure, if you live near , on, or around a military base, you will find a different kind of society than you might find in say Downtown Detroit or even in Downtown Duluth. I just don't believe that there are many people (Americans) who are ANTI-Military. I believe more people may be against poor decisions using our military, than there are people who simply are anti-military. I believe that more people are simply mad at having an ineffective Defense Secretary (SEE: Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld) or a putting our troops in harm by having us get caught with our pants down (SEE Abu Ghraib). Remeber, just because I may or may not agree with the Presiden't use of the military, DOESN"T mean I don't support the Military.

Poll after poll, interviews after interviews, surveys after surveys...people on the streets and in military posts and towns...it is a fact that the military personnel likes more pro Military politicians. They are not too much into politicians that accuse them of being crimminals, that the war they fight is wrong....

you can analyze and trying to find the fifth leg in a cat BUT the fact is water clear: most the military is pro Bush, Pro McCain, pro Palin and pro every one who support them!

Carmelo,

Do you dispute the facts? Are there any mistakes, lies, or errors in my post on this subject?

Didn't think so.

Now about being a Kool-Aid Drinker......I bring facts and truth (and opinion). That doesn't sound like being a Kool-Aid Drinker to me.

On the other hand, if someone just constantly gives in to gossip, rumor and unbridled anger, while ignoring the facts, that to me sounds like a Kool-Aid drinker.

Although this is primarily an Obama bashing site, there are people who come here to help advance democracy.

I would also advise anyone who expects to see civility towards to PEOTUS to go elsewhere. This is not the place to expect that. Just as LIBS didn't feel W. won the election fairly and looked upon him as being sworn in illegitmately, people on this site all feel the same towards Obama.
Thank you Carmelo for setting the record straight.
