Insanity galore. Now taxpayer funds are being used to honor Barack Obama courtesy of the Washington Metro, a quasi governmental agency.
To pay homage to Barack Obama, fare cards bearing his image shall be created and sold. I guess it is important that those who ride the metro in DC know who the new boss is. It is that plain and simple.
At this rate, I wonder how many public projects shall bear Barack Obama’s name in the next few years…

Metro hasn’t yet formally announced the sale of a special edition SmarTrip card commemorating the impending inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama, but this image was circulated at this morning’s regular Board of Directors meeting, along with
details on their production schedule and cost.
Metro spokesperson Steven Taubenkibel confirmed that the commemorative SmarTrip cards should be available for sale in early January, while special paper Metro farecards marking the inauguration will be sold somewhat earlier, in late December.
There was some discussion at the board meeting about the cost and availability of the commemorative SmarTrip cards. Currently, Metro plans to sell them for $10 per card, with no value added to the card at the time of initial purchase, which would make them $5 more expensive than regular SmarTrip cards. They may also be hard to come by, as Metro will only have an initial order of 35,000 on hand to begin with, though Taubenkibel said the agency hopes to have more available as time permits. The short time period during which the cards have had to be ordered, produced, and eventually shipped to D.C. and processed was cited as the main reason for their higher price and small number.
“We’re going to have get them out really quickly in order for them to be sold,” Taubenkibel explained.
They do this for every President on his inauguration day. No biggie. Inauguration day is time to celebrate the peaceful transition of power in the greatest country in the world. There are foreigners there who want souvenirs, and many from all over the country there to support the new President.
I still have my pass from when I went to Reagan’s inauguration in 1980, with a nice picture of Reagan on it.
I think we can infer that DC knows how to throw a good party! If Hillary makes an appearance and speech I will go to this one.
It might sounds odd but I haven’t had the opportunity to attend a US president inauguration. I have been in 4 governors inuagurations though: Sarah Palin(Alaska), Rick Perry(Texas), Pedro Rossello(Puerto Rico) and Bobby Jindal(Lousiana). And two inauguration of foereign leaders: Alberto Fujimori(Peru) and Michelle Brachelet(Chile). .
None of these people were treated like Obama is treated by the media: like a Pope. They are even selling inauguration tickets and wants to bring a million people to be hipnotized by Kenyan boy in January.
Despite what you believe about President-elect Obama, Carmelo Junior, this is a historic event. The reason why people are selling inauguration tickets is because lots of people want to be there. This has nothing to do with the media. By the way, it is a crime to sell inaugural tickets. Just because your brand of crazy hasn’t spread to the rest of the electorate doesn’t mean they are hypnotized.

I don’t vote to make history, to have a black president or to be thrown into the popular bangwagon. I don’t care about “historic moments”. Obama got elected, I give him that and good for him and for African Americans. But I don’t look at a person’s skin, I look at the “character of his/her persona” . If you have followed Obama’s campaign and have some knowledge of “mass hypnosis”, propaganda, marketing, psychology and public affairs, you will notice that Obama’s campaign ran the most “hypnotizing” political campaign in US history. Only compared to Hittler and Goebells’s brain washing methods in Germany.
Why Martin Luther King refused to challenge LBJ for the Democrtaic nomination in 1967? He could have easily become our first TRUE black president. King had a dream of equality and freedom, not a dream of POWER and DECEIPT.
you miss the point entirely. whether you voted to make history or not, history was made not just for african americans but for the entire country. if you don’t care about historic moments then don’t come to dc for the inaugural. no one is forcing you to go. however, some of us will go and celebrate this momentous occasion on your behalf. i followed the campaign very closely and know that obama’s campaign was run beautifully. it was based on a transparency and community engagement. hitler was a fascist. fasicists are not known for transparency or community engagement. if the obama campaign did not want folks involved and aware the campaign would not have developed so many avenues for people to get involved and be connected. and it was that strategy that won him the campaign and that has the world excited and ready to celebrate. so if thats how you define hypnosis then i’ll be happily hypnotized. anything is better than the bitterness and paranoia you walk around with.

Okay, now what? Are my bills going to be paid by this man? Is my electricity going to be free now? Are those 120,000 Americans coming back from Iraq in 16 months?
I am going to have free health care? Going to the doctor I choose?
Am I going to have a raise in my salary?
Is my boss going to have my own salary?
Is this man going to change the Costitution so I would be obligated to see same sex married couples with addopted children when I go buy milk at the nearest store?
Is this man going to use my hard earned money to fund the destruction of human embryos?
Would I still be able to say “Merry Christmas”, “Mother of God”, “God bless America” or “So help me God”?
Sometimes historical events are so as pleasant when we erase our own past.
Carmelo Junior you are a racist and sexist person. I am so sorry you wil be obligated to see a same-sex married couple with kids. What? That couple got those kids from a straight couple unwilling to take responsibilty for their behavior. Embryos are not people. Do you even understand what they are? Barack is a Christian, even though I am not, I am sure you can say Merry Christmas all year long if you like. Barack ends EVERY speech with God bless America, you would know that if you every listened to him.
And I am pleased that a bunch of 8 to 10 year old children were so inspired by Barack Obama that they wrote essays and read them to their local School Board in order to change the elementery school’s name. They want to turn off the TV and video games to study! Better that than fawning of 50 Cent.
