Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State… Not likely if Hillary has some common sense left…

November 14, 2008 by PUMA Pundit

Well, what can I say. If Hillary Clinton is hell bent on putting a nail in her own political coffin, so be it.

For a woman who is a sitting Senator, serving at the pleasure of the people of New York to trade that position to be the Secretarty of State serving at the pleasure of Barack Obama. Well, bigger political miscalculations have happened in the history of the Republic.

If Hillary accepts, and I hope she doesn’t, she will literally bring an end to her political career, and join the league of political has beens like that other former Secretary of State, Colin Powell. It was vastly experienced and respected Powell, who squaneded whatever respect and goodwil he may have had when he went in front of the UN and misrepresented lied about the true state of affairs vis-a-vis Iraq on behalf of the  inexperienced and inept George W. Bush…

So Hillary, if our advice means anything to you, and with your going all out for Barack Obama during the campaign, it’s hard to say that it does, please stay in the Senate and serve this country. This is infinitely better than engaging in crass political opportunism and serving Barack Obama as his Secretary of State…

Well said. But imagine Hillary as SOS for a weird moment. She is a centrist, she opposes Hussein Obi’s policy of pulling the troops out in 16 months, she opposes talking with no preconditions with world tyrants; she opposes a premeditated invasion of Pakistan’s territory. How could Hillary work with Obambi? BHO is a liar, opportunist, arrogant and insensitive. He managed to steal the nomination and the elections. Where does Hillary stands in all that mele?
When Obama screws things up, I hope McCain or any republican come to his rescue. They said McCain is set to die in two years anyways!
No republican came to Carter’s rescue when he messed up in 1978 with the Ayatolah drama. That was all his mistake and his inept group of people. Obama is gathering a similar inept leftist group of people to deal with this dangerous world. Carter only had Iran as a problem, this muslim will have Israel, Danfur ,Iran, Russia, Venezuela, AlQuada, North Korea, Poland, the whole NATO, Ukraine, Pakistan, etec, etc. He thinks just because the French think he is charming and the Germans think he is God, he will fix everything in the world.
Hillary better stays in te Senate and watch how the “community organizer” destroys America.

    I agree.

I love Farrah Fawcett and so should you.

  5. malp on November 14th, 2008 3:09 pm

    I am outraged.

  6. bluemonday on November 14th, 2008 3:24 pm

Yes, those political has-beens like Thomas Jefferson and John Quincy Adams. Six Secretaries of State went on to be president, and I believe that is what you claim to want for Clinton. There are much worse choices she could make. Do a little research first.

  7. jamakers on November 14th, 2008 3:40 pm

Hillary is not outraged, why should you be? Geez you all are weird.

  8. clintonloyalist on November 14th, 2008 3:44 pm

I don’t think Hillary should accept it. I think she will be better as Senate Majority Leader. Think about it, the people of NY love her. Obama could fire her at any moment if she doesn’t go the Obama way. I feel her time is more useful in the senate than SOS. It is an isult to the Hillary supporters as well. Hillary as SOS can help re-election with her supporters, and get the supporters on his side since he picked our candidate for a high position. She will have power to meet forgein leaders, but no power to make decisions. I think Obama will use her just for her experiance to counter act his lack of experiance. Anyone else agree with that?

  9. WellhungRichie on November 14th, 2008 8:59 pm

There goes some people with the old “experience” schtick again. Bush had alot of experience as governor of Texas, & alot of good that never did us!

Good solid smart Judgement is infinitely better , & that Obama has demonstrated in spades. He was never for invading Iraq, unlike Hillary.

Hillary will make a great SOS, & along with Biden, proves that Obama puts his Country First & does not keep Petty GRUDGES unlike most of the people blogging on this site.

  10. Eric on November 14th, 2008 11:32 pm

I see the argument you are making, but I think she should take the post. She will have much more influence over policy as Secretary of State than she will as a Senator. Obama has many faults, but his management style seems to be one where he encourages disagreement and lets it affect the trajectory of his policies. This could be a huge win for Clinton policy, which is what I care most about.

I think this could be a way to get Hillary in the back door to the White House.

Incidentally, I just gave another 10 bucks to her campaign. That is 8 weeks in a row now, doing my wimpy little part to get her out of debt. :)

In response to Carmelo Junior: Hillary and Barack are both centrists that lean to the left. They both ran on the Democratic ticket and all of the contenders were similar in policies. A simple ‘read’ of the websites would have told you this. I see that you are still rather ‘bitter’ in regards to the election, I guess it takes some people longer than others to work through it. On the other hand, if Hillary had won I would have voted for her even though I have supported Barack since at least 2004. I’m not going to rehash all the old arguments about who “won” and who didn’t, but I am going to suggest that we all begin to work together for the common good of this country.

We are in deep trouble as a nation and it’s going to take all of us working together to try to get us out of this quagmire. If you truly supported Hillary, then you should attempt to follow her lead. She is supporting Barack wholeheartedly and did at least 70 campaign events for him during the general election. A country divided cannot stand and for the last eight years this has been a country divided. See what has happened? A lot of us became cynical about politics and many of us didn’t even get involved, just went to the voting booth at election time and voted or some of us didn’t even do that.

When Barack announced that he was running, I was there among around 15,000 other people. I’ve read his books in their entirety and have followed him closely for some time now. He is a good man, brilliant, a decent man, an honest man. He is also an excellent politician who is very pragmatic, who has the ability to see the big picture as well as being able to listen to all views, assimilate the information and develop a strategy in an effort to meet the goal. He has always encouraged his supporters to stay involved, become engaged in the Democratic process and stay engaged. He has always stated that this election was never about him, but about us as a nation. He has always worked for the ‘little people’ with only their best interest at heart. He turned down many offers after he became President of the Harvard Law Review and instead went back to Chicago to work as a civil rights attorney making much, much less money than if he had taken up the big wig offers where he could have made thousands.

It’s time to let go and join together for the sake of our country. Hillary is doing that and whatever she decides to do, is all right with me as I believe she knows as Barack does what is at stake if we do not unite as a country.

  12. Eric on November 15th, 2008 9:27 am

You know more than Hillary obviously.

This site has become right wing hackery. I am pro-Hillary, while this site has become an abortion. Any real Hillary supporters are no longer here (and I’m not sure they were, as the founder of this silly group donated to republicans in the past).

LOL. PUMAs must think democrats are stupid.

Have fun becoming a funny footnote to a wonderful year. In the history books, “And before the greatest president since JFK took office, there were even republican hacks posing as Hillary supporters that tried to stop him.”

Wait, you won’t even be a footnote.

Have fun being angry the next eight years.

  13. Carmelo Junior on November 15th, 2008 11:07 am

Obama the “greatest president since JFK”? Eric are you on crack? Kennedy was a war hero, BHO is a war zero. Kennedy was a Christian and not ashamed, BHO is a closet muslim pro gay marriage socialist. Kennedy won in an honest campaign and elections, BHO stole the nomination, had millions from the middle east and paid criminals to steal battleground states.
Don’t compare this criminal friend of terrorists and racists with John F. Kennedy.
Ah, Kennedy never used drugs, not even to experiment.

Bill Clinton’s Foreign Affairs May Cost Clinton Chance of Secretary of State

  15. AFan on November 15th, 2008 12:54 pm

Listen, the election is over and Obama won fair and square. It’s time to move foward and put are differenace side during the time of this economic crisis. I hope the Hillary does become Secretary of State because she’s qualified and will help America’s Image become likable and respected by our friend a cross the world.

  16. monieusa on November 15th, 2008 3:10 pm

Carmelo Junior- very well stated!! Barrack(a new JFK?????) Michelle(a new Jacqueline?????) Give me a break!!!
Hillary will be making a huge mistake. She was forced to “play by his rules” while out campaigning, but now she needs to put space between her and BO and get back on her own track!!!

  17. amazed on November 15th, 2008 5:40 pm

Eric… if these folks let go of their anger they might have to recognize that the world has moved on and is leaving them behind. they might have to admit that their world of good vs. evil is marketing ploy of fox news and not based in any semblance of reality. they should be happy that folks like us actually spend time on this site trying to bring them along. ;-)

  18. badlybehaved on November 15th, 2008 7:45 pm

SmellDung? Ritchy: Better not let JoeblowsO see your name or you’ll be turned into Homeland Security for making racist comments for a subliminal reference to hanging.

  19. Gojoebo on November 15th, 2008 9:17 pm

I already told you all on the PUMA site who will become the next Secretary of State. Not Hillary, not Richardson, not Kerry. It will be Wendy Sherman. So no need to speculate here, Hillary and Bill did not disclose Bill’s library donors during the primaries, and they are not about to do it now. Hillary will serve in another capacity.

  20. mhs on November 15th, 2008 11:19 pm

I certainly hope that Hillary does not take the SOS post; she would be much more effective in the Senate. Also, any mistakes, blunders by Obama, and there will be many, will come back to haunt her when she makes her bid in 2012. Better that she wait it out in the Senate, be the voice of reason that she always has been and not hitch her star to this Presidency.

  21. badlybehaved on November 16th, 2008 5:55 am

Hillary needs to disassociate herself from Obama; as far and as fast as possible.

  22. Carmelo Junior on November 16th, 2008 11:34 am

Obama’s secretary of state will be Jeremiah Wright! Bill Richardson will be secretary of the Ass Kissers Department.

  23. Carmelo Junior on November 16th, 2008 11:36 am

Let’s make sure the community organizer is living in the White House for just 1,460 days! NO MORE!

  24. AFan on November 16th, 2008 12:27 pm

Wow!! listen to all of you haters. If Hillary becomes Secratary of State, are you guys going to start an anti-Hillary thread? Are you going to join the far right and go along with Dick Morris in his push for the new Hillary the movie? Is this website even supporting Hillary?

    http://www.hillarythemovie.com/

  25. JoeCool on November 16th, 2008 6:47 pm

It’s funny how you guys make fun of Obama for being a “community organizer” when he used those organizing skills to dominate Hillary in caucus states, raise $650 million dollars and build the most formidable grass roots organization ever. Maybe if Hillary had ‘community organizing’ skills she wouldn’t be begging people to pay off her $14 million debt.

  26. Carmelo Junior on November 17th, 2008 8:46 am

    joe

“Community Organizer” is not a real job. That is just a form of undercover fraud and infiltrate unpriviledged people to make them do what this CO wants. Sort of “poor people’s brain wash”. The same community organizations that registered dead people to vote for Obama. I wonder how many dead people voted for this fraud…in Ohio and Florida. This community organizer crap will be always funny.

  27. Carmelo Junior on November 17th, 2008 8:50 am

Flash news! Obama’s National Security Adviser will be Bill Ayers! They are having talks in the neighborhood about this appoitment.

  28. spt75 on November 17th, 2008 9:20 am

    Carmelo Junior…

Kennedy was a Roman Catholic, not a Christian. It was very controversal for someone who defers to the pope for advice to run for President at the time.

Oh, and good luck with the “closet muslim” bs… nobody with an ounce of brain cells really beleives that sort of fear mongering. Either he was “associated” with the Holy Trinity Church for the last ~20 years or not, you can’t have it both ways.

Furthermore, I am ashamed that people such as yourself exist in America, who would have the gaul to turn freedom of religion into a modern witch hunt. Muslims are generally respectable, good people, and Americans who are Muslim should have every right to run for political office, even president in the future, without being prejudged/labeled terrorists.

  29. amazed on November 17th, 2008 11:21 am

Damn… if community organizing isn’t a real job then I need to go and check my paycheck. Because I’m getting paid to “not a real job”. Not a bad deal. Community organizers exist on both the left and the right. They are simply folks who have a point of view and try to organize like-minded folks to collectively better their communities. So, folks on the right who “organize” against abortion are community organizers, just like folks who “organize” poor people to claim their housing rights.

In fact this site is a form of community organizing. It attempts to rally a bunch of angry folks to be angry.

  30. AFan on November 17th, 2008 11:46 am

    Carmelo Junior

So in other words Dr. Martin Luther King who was a community organizer was fraud too? Wow a short sided you are.

  31. Carmelo Junior on November 17th, 2008 12:32 pm

Dr. Martin Luther King(whose real first name wasn’t Martin) never said he was a “community organizer”. He never supported a fraudulent organization nor did any gathering with terrorist nor was financed by middle east terrorists, nor said anything against America or religion. He never said “America is not longer a Christian nation”.
Find me a Martin Luther King quote where he says abortion is just like “his pay grade”, or a quote where he says that “these organizations will be essential part of his pilicies”.
Martin Luther King might have been a cheater, womanizer but he was not a racist nor “palled” with racists, terrorists and criminals.

  32. AFan on November 17th, 2008 2:58 pm

His movement was a community effort in fighting segragation and that blacks at least have the right the vote if you believe in that. And would you consider Malcolm X and Elijah Muhammad as racist because if you do he sat down with both of those men at time that they had the ability in helping the black community, that Billy Graham and many of those white preachers didn’t care doing during that time. Try to study a little bit of Black History.
