Barack Obama might as well have called John McCain a “Nigga Hating Cracker”…

October 11, 2008 by PUMA Pundit

There we have it folks. McCain took the high road and came to Barack Obama’s defense when someone accused Obama of not being a patriotic American, an Arab, and a generally scary individual.

The next day what does Obama do? Why he goes on the offensive and quotes a line from the movie Malcolm X. Here is the context in which this line was used in the movie, and then go see how Obama uses it:

Malcolm X (as portrayed by Denzel Washington)

Malcolm X: I must emphasize at the out start that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad is not a politician. So I’m not here this afternoon as a Republican, nor as a Democrat; not as a Mason, nor as an Elk; not as a Protestant, nor a Catholic; not as a Christian, nor a Jew; not as a Baptist, nor a Methodist; in fact, not even as an American, because if I was an American, the problem that confronts our people today wouldn’t even exist.

So I have to stand here today as what I was when I was born: A black man.

Before there was any such thing as a Republican or a Democrat, we were black.

Before there was any such thing as a Mason or an Elk, we were black.

Before there was any such thing as a Jew or a Christian, we were black people!

In fact, before there was any such place as America, we were black!

And after America has long passed from the scene, there will still be black people.

I’m gonna tell you like it really is. Every election year these politicians are sent up here to pacify us! They’re sent here and setup here by the White Man!

This is what they do!

They send drugs in Harlem down here to pacify us!

They send alcohol down here to pacify us!

They send prostitution down here to pacify us!

Why you can’t even get drugs in Harlem without the White Man’s permission!

You can’t get prostitution in Harlem without the White Man’s permission!

You can’t get gambling in Harlem without the White Man’s permission!

Every time you break the seal on that liquor bottle, that’s a Government seal you’re breaking!

Oh, I say and I say it again, ya been had!

Ya been took!

Ya been hoodwinked!

Bamboozled!

Led astray!

Run amok!

This is what He does….

That’s Barack Above. Here is Malcolm X (as portayed Denzel Washington) Below:

Now, as a black man in America, there are certain code words I know we use in the community which if taken in isolation might seem innocent, but when taken in proper context are among the most vile insults that can be heaped upon an individual.

Ever since Spike Lee’s Malcolm X was released, two words entered the popular lexicon of racial intolerance, those words are “hoodwinked” and “bamboozled” .

In isolation they might be innocent, however when a black man says a white man is “hoodwinking” and “bamboozling” black people, he might as well be saying that the person he is referring to is a “nigga hating cracker” . Taking it to its logical conclusion, same can be said about the supporters of that person (gosh darn it, I guess that makes me an Uncle Tom)

Either way, for reasons best known to Obama, this is the second time in this campaign he has used exactly this phraseology while giving a speech geared to a predominantly black audience. The first time he did was in South Carolina when he was referring to Bill Clinton. Afterwards, Bill went from being the first black President to a racist demagogue as far as the black community was concerned. Now in Philladelphia, he has chosen to do the same against John McCain.

From his utterances it seems till there is a race war, Obama would not be satisfied. Why he would channel Malcolm X at the height of his militancy against a GOP that already has to contend with (false) accusations of racism is beyond me, but as stated earlier, Obama is willing to destroty the country to win an election.

For further insight into the use of these words, one need only grab a copy of Spike Lee’s Bamboozled which came out in 2001, and continued where Malcom X left off. In the opening scene, Spike’s voice can clearly be heard saying “you’ve been hoodwinked, bamboozled” and what was he referring to? Black people selling out their own race to white (corporate) interests that had nothing but ill-intentions towards them, in fact the whole movie centers around that theme.

Incidentally, there is no way one can claim Barack Obama does not know the context which those words came from. Hate it or love it, no black leftist intellectual worth his salt can claim not to be aware of who Spike Lee is, or have familiarity with his work.

This race firestorm is distracting. And totally expected. And, think about it, who does it benefit? If a band of racists are not going to vote for Obama, then they’re not going to vote for him. They’re not likely to change their minds.

Stirring up racial fires does nothing to help McCain/Palin. Rather, it helps mobilize the other side to indignation and, I suppose they hope, an uprising against the forces of evil allayed against them.

Whatever they need to get them excited and distracted from the issues. But it’s not coming from anything John McCain or Sarah Palin have ever said.

Are there people not voting for Obama because he’s 6 or 7% Black, sure. Are there racists in the Obama camp who are still stuck in the 1800’s and calling for the damnation of the white man and killing of the Jews? Sure. You want to talk racism? When you’ve got Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan and the Rev. Pfleger on your side of the ledger, you can’t cast too many stones. But, cast they will, to stir this up.

The GA Congressman, for those who asked, is John Lewis (whose claim to fame is marching with MLK, Jr. in Alabama — he goes back that far and is/was a respected civil rights leader). He is also the former Hillary Clinton supporter who switched on her at the last minute when Obama’s people played the “race card” with him and read him the riot act. He dumped Hillary (as Bill Richardson did) because he had his arm twisted. Lost a lot of respect in the process but solidified his “base” I guess.

As reported at the start of this race (the primaries), Hillary Clinton had an advantage among African-American voters of 34 points (52%-48%). And it was still significant until South Carolina. Bill Clinton did not play the infamous “race card” — they had nothing to gain from it. But the other side did. You want to talk about bias and discrimination, is there any doubt out there that, if Hillary Clinton had been a man, she’d be the Democratic nominee today and well on her way to being elected President? That’s the unholy firestorm that’s been unleashed in this campaign, against first HRC and now against Governor Palin. It’s unprecedented, ugly and indefensible.

So, at the very least, if we want to talk about bias and discrimination, we should talk about it across the board.

A few months ago, on the always entertaining if somewhat nutty Bill Maher show, someone brought up a study that had just been done on voters which showed that the level of sexism in this country was significantly higher than the level of racism. The response? On to the next topic. Totally jumped over it and dismissed it because it didn’t fit in with the “PC Rant of the Day” which was the terrible problem of some people, apparently a lot of people, who weren’t going to vote for Barack Obama. As if there had to be something wrong. Who wouldn’t vote for him normally, as wonderfully as he turned a phrase? It was considered outrageous and immediately attributed to racism. Baloney.

Barack Obama is a neophyte U.S. Senator with no resume. No record of significant accomplishment either as a part-time Illinois legislator or as a U.S. Senator. As the WSJ pointed out immediately after the DNC convention, Barack Obama may be the least qualified candidate for President in the history of this country.

I’ve always liked John McCain, particularly because he seemed to have a mind of his own and bucked his own party when he felt it was right.

If anybody expects me to apologize for voting for him and for the pit bull, it ain’t gonna happen.

And, you’re welcome to call me whatever you need to call me to rationalize for yourself the fact that you have a flawed and unprepared candidate on your hands. That is NOT my problem.

Well, I am certainly behind the times. Thanks for educating me about the phraseology.

Whoever wrote this article is out of his mind since I do not want to go straight a say he’s racist. This man [Obama] will be the next president because it’s America’s destiny. This is a new world, your [white] son and my [black] son will be able to have the same dream of being at the head of the highest office on land. Get ready America. We always tough to fulfill our dream the only ways were to be an athlete or a rapper, but now with the audacity [strong courage and believe] of this man [Obama] we now will forever follow his path. We will do everything to put our kids through law schools and anything giving them the skills and advantage to be where is Obama and where he will eventually be after November 4 at the White House.
The change we need is coming!!!!!!!!

    Get over it!!!!! Obama/08

  7. truelogic on October 12th, 2008 12:23 am

Wow. You have too much time on your hands. It is not that serious.

  8. chiy on October 12th, 2008 3:43 am

    Are you kidding?

I am white. White, white, old and pasty white. You all are not liberal nor democrat.

“till ther is a race war, Obama will not be satisfied?” What does Obama have to gain by creating a race war? Nothing. White people are still the majority. As a white man and an amateur historian, myself (like you), I think your take on Obama is ridiculous. If this election is black against white, Obama garners, what, 12 percent of the vote. Not quite a landslide.

On the other hand, what does Obama have to lose in a race war? The election. So what? His life. Ooh! The country. Oh goodness gracious! The Obama reaction to the McCain campain stops are not about John McCain.

They are about the mobs in the McCain campaigns. Certainly McCain doesn’t subcribe to retorick like, “kill him” “terrorist” etc. But if Palin winks and nods to supporters who do shout that crap, then it’s out of bounds.

My wife is from Africa. She wants to leave the USA. She’s afraid of more malitia-purpetrated killings of random African and other immigrants if Obama is elected. Remember the malitias during Bill Clinton’s time– at bus stops, etc.? Why are you fomenting that sentiment? Obama, supporters, McCain supporters, Hillary supporters(?) should all be trying to stop this.

I give McCain credit for trying to put a stop to it within the last two days. Where are the PUMAs? You are democrats. You are liberals. Why would you now not scream from the rooftops when people shout “kill him” at rallys? I would shout if kooks were saying that about Hillary, Huckabee or who ever the nominee might be in an alternate universe.

Remember how angry you were when the Atwater/Gingrich/Rebpulican attack machine diverted the American public to attack President Bill Clinton this way? Maybe you weren’t. I was. It was non-stop, as I remember. Hippy. Draft-dodger, Drug-addict. Terrorist. ZOG. One World Order here to take away our guns. PUMA didn’t let that go. Why this? Why are you so willing to throw the Dem candidate away this time? Did you do this to Kerry? I thought Kerry was a horrible nominee, but I voted for him rather than Bush. Do you think Obama is a terrorist? Are you worried he’ll fly Air Force One into the Empire State Bldg? Are you worried he is a socialist who will take possession of your house and turn it into a goose-stepping parade field? Did this worry you when Clinton took power?

Don’t tell me you’ll vote for McReagan/Palin-Reagan to spite the Dem primary process. I don’t believe that. Would you vote for Cheney were he the GOP nominee over Obama? Are you that angry? Would you vote for Pinochet over Obama? Are you that disgruntled? Would you vote for Hitler over Obama? Tough choice, huh?

Doesn’t it feel like you’re carrying the water for Rove now by going after Obama? I’m becoming ashamed I voted twice for Clinton, and defended him for so long, after listening to you Republicans-come-lately. After reading your site, I’m convinced PUMA is not a group of disgruntled liberals who were upset that liberal Hillary didn’t win, they were a Rove construction all along.

Wait… I’m replying to Rove, aren’t I. This is a joke. Am I on Candid Camera? [cue music]

Lasty, as a true American, enough about Malcom X. He’s flawed, but not a villain. Certainly not amongst liberals. Spike Lee, on the other hand, takes shortcuts as a screenwriter and filmmaker. I’ll grant you that.

In 50 years, Malcolm X will be reveared in the U.S. as is Patrick Henry and the ne’rdowells who threw the Boston Tea Party. Malcolm X’s crime was to say, in the 1960’s, black people should not submit to terrorism. How radical. Malcolm X had the gall to say, in the 1960’s, no taxation without representation.

Why were you PUMA folks liberals in the first place? Were you liberal or is this site simply a Republican hoax? Why did you vote for the first black president, Bill Clinton? Why didn’t you protest Bill’s apology for slavery? Where was your racial outrage then?

  9. tuffi on October 12th, 2008 5:24 am

Sir, you need to get out more. Acutally you are a bit scary.

  10. jlc1avc2 on October 12th, 2008 7:06 am

truelogic…Yes it is that serious. Thats the point. When you have someone line McSame crazy and not sure of where he’s going to take this nation. It’s serious. When you have McSame old unhealty . And a nut job a hearts beat away. Its that serious. You geys just do not get it. WAKE-UP!!!!!!!

Really think about what you’re doing here.

And for the record, it was OBAMA who started the embers of this “racial fire” with his comments like “They’re going to say he doesn’t LOOK like the other presidents on the dollar bill” etc. That man has more racism in him, than John McCain has in one cell in his body. Obama sat in the most racially charged church in America for 20 years and he has the NERVE to call McCain a racist?? God, he must think everyone is so stupid…..No, he’s COUNTING on it. PEOPLE KNOW BETTER!!! And if you don’t, YOU BETTER SNAP OUT OF YOUR TRANCE!!

I have notice a fake southern accent. Notice the you alls for instance. I think he is trying to imitate Bill Clinton. He is a consummate phony.

  16. bellflower on October 13th, 2008 1:01 am

I do not believe Obama cares about Blacks or Muslims. He is participating in the game of divide and conquer. He is trying to ride the tide of the downfall of America. Our crisis is his opportunity. All he cares about is himself and communism and he may not even care about communism nearly as much as himself. I believe since he often talks about the world his goal is to rule the world. How often to you hear him say America or The USA? It is the world. Getting The USA out of the way is a stepping stone to world domination.

  17. Woman_in_Virginia on October 13th, 2008 7:26 am

    jlc1avc2 ,

People will do and say stupid things on BOTH sides of the aisle, but the difference here is the media coverage and scrutiny that the McCain is getting, and people like this wearing profane shirts that CHILDREN might see are ONCE AGAIN GETTING A PASS FROM THE MSM. THAT is my point. At least McCain had the deceny to calm his supporters, while Obama does NOTHING but criticize. And when the “kill him” comment was said, it was in regards to Bill Ayers. And in my opinion, he SHOULD’VE gotten the death penalty for what he did. Timothy McVeigh did, and they committed the same domestic terrorist acts.

  18. badlybehaved on October 13th, 2008 8:34 am

    Woman-In-Virginia:
I slept on this situation. One of the things that made Hillary supporters angry during the primaries was the sexism. Obama said nothing about it and even flipped Hillary off in Raleigh in April (see video on YouTube). In Obama and Ayers world this is just young people expressing themselves. Ayers’ educational philosophy is all about no rules. When he addressed the SDS reunion last year (on YouTube) he had a “little joke” about whether he was a communist or an anarchist. Now I’m not saying Ecru-man is an anarchist but I do think his ideas about what is normal are really skewed by his years of associations with the far left.
John McCain, on the other hand has the maturity and judgment to set some boundaries; he is a leader.

One of the things that I’ve never heard brought up in this discussion is Obama’s abuse of alcohol and drugs as a young person. The effects of abuse on the developing brain a far greater than on that of the adult fully-developed brain (age 25 in males). This is the time when the brain is developing its executive function having to do with memory, learning and judgment. One of the theories out there is that you end up being only as mature as you were at the age you started drinking. Obama admits to not only abusing alcohol but other drugs at least while he was 16 and 17 (who knows about the college years). Doesn’t his egocentric behavior remind you of the average 16 year old’s? Is it surprising that the youth vote seems to worship this man?

  19. econsmed on October 13th, 2008 8:51 am

On the sexism note - here’s a little bit of PUMA fun for you - I’m one that’s going for McCain now to make sure BO can’t destroy the chances of the dems chances of ever getting the white house again.

    Obama Kool-aid Drinkers,

Your homey the Obozo is not African-American… he qualifies as Arab-American.. .. he has lied to you about being African-American too!

I know.. slurp, slurp… you love that kool-aid but in case you are not fully drugged read on….

    Here are the facts:

“Federal law requires that to claim a minority status, you must be at least 1/8 of the descriptor, but for the sake of this article, I’ve converted it to a decimal fraction for easier comprehension. You must be at least 12.5% of the racial component you claim for minority status. Mr. Obama, claiming to be African-American, is half the legal threshold.

Again, to let it sink in: Mr. Obama is not legally African-American. It is impossible for him to be, in truth, America’s first African-American president.

Yet claiming to be African-American is the soul and substance of his claim to fame. It is what he has used throughout his adult life to distinguish himself from other competitors. It is the ethnic identity he proclaims, and it is the ethnic identity he craves. Without it, he is just another mixed race Caucasian Arab with an African influence playing on his skin’s pigmentation.

But no matter what he craves, no matter what he has used to propel himself through life, no matter the racist presumption of seeing his skin and without question calling him black, the hard, cold, genetically inarguable reality remains: he is not an African-American.

Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian, that from his mother. What those who want Mr. Obama to write history by becoming “America’s first African-American president” ignore is that his father was ethnically Arabic, with only 1 relative ethnically African Negro - a maternal great-grandparent (Sen. Obama’s great-great grandparent, thus the 6.25% ethnic contribution to the senator’s ethnic composition.).

That means that Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s side. He is 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African Negro from his father’s side.”

Yet another reason why clear thinking people who care about women and minorities issues will not let this imposter step into the most powerful office in the world. All that we have fought for for decades hangs in the balance. He does not deserve the office and he is not entitled….

    Go Sarah 2008!!!

badlybehaved, I agree..The “One” is a known misogynist. I mean, just look at the way he condoned the way the media was treating Hillary which was VERY racist, but he whines like a little baby the minute someone dares ask him about HIS racist and radical connections. Never ONCE did he do the honorablething and say “Hey supporters, do not bring signs that say “Iron my shirts” to my rallies. We can’t disagree but stillbe respectful (John McCain’s words). He’s an opportunistic empty suit racist socialist blow-hard, who’s ready to radicalize our school systems with Saul Alinsky teachings like he and bill Ayres did with the Anneneurg Challenge. The guy couldn’t be more transparent, corrupt and CLEARLY not qualified to lead a nation. The thought of that is laughable to me…and scary.

bellflower, I TOTALLY agree Obama uses a phony accent sometimes, depending where he’s campaigning. I’m sure he doesn’t use that same accent when he’s kissin’ a$$ in Hollywood. Isn’t he a thug from Chicago?? He vacillates between that image and a southern preacher. Puke. I can’t stand even LISTENING to the guy.

I love how the overreaction to anything that might or might not have any darn thing at all about race is the central topic so long as the media is not talking about the financial crisis. Good Lord, if we are still harping on invented racist comments, yet the opposite is not only not bad, but not even noticed by the MSM, we are deeply in trouble.

PC is going to doom us if things keep going like this for a decade or more. We’ll turn from a divided bipartisan political landscape to a twisted “democratic socialist” country, squandering what’s left of our influence. And with that, out will come the influence of the only likely replacement, Communist China. So, thanks, Democrats.

  25. ringhorne on October 13th, 2008 8:47 pm

Race is being used against McCain simply since the Democrats have a black guy running for president. This is beyond absurd, the reactions about anything and everything in a race-hyper approach. I hope they know what they are creating by using race in this election like it had been used in the O.J. Simpson murder trial. What if Obama loses? What will happen then? Who would be to blame then, if there are outraged people turning cars over? I mean, lie to people who believe the lies and all hell can break out when the lies don’t come out true (in this sense, that would be if Obama isn’t prez).

Shame on America for turning a professional candidate into a false prophet for not only suckered blacks, but lots of suckered people (liberals are highly susceptible to believing lies that sound Utopian). And shame on MSM for being even more stupid this time around than in the past, showing just how awesome their stupidness is.

  26. TmCm on October 13th, 2008 11:02 pm

Really? That weak-ass remonstration of that old woman is what you guys consider “coming to Obama’s defense”? Nevermind that it took repeated shouts of “Terrorist!” and “Kill him!” before either of your candidates were willing to say anything…

Gotta love the subtext of McCain’s answer to the woman, too. What’s that, John? You say Arabs can’t be good family men? Ooh, bad answer… tsk tsk.

Oh, WasHRCnowPalin… I’m beginning to see why you like Palin so much. It’s kind of sad, in a way.

    Off to drink some kool-aid!

  27. WasHRCnowPalin on October 14th, 2008 4:38 am

    TmCm,

Sad? nay, nay snakebreath! It’s wonderful thing… let me explain… I am voting for Sarah Palin for two reasons… one has nothing to do with Sarah and the other one has everything to do with Sarah.

    1) I am voting for Sarah Palin because she is not the Obozo. This has nothing to do with Sarah per se for I would just as soon vote for Howdy Doody as vote for the Obozo. At least Howdy Doody would be less dangerous than your marxist homey.

    2) I am voting for Sarah Palin because she will shatter that glass ceiling once and for all… and because she will do it effectively, competently, and with class… now before you start complaining about me voting for someone just because she is a woman I will remind you that Obama has snookered the black community into thinking he is black so they would vote for him on that basis… and they are. Unfortunately for them he is not (black)… he is an Arab-american. Secondly, Sarah is a magnitude in order more qualified than the Obozo to run this country.

Your homey is a sexist, a marxist, a deceiver, a lightweight, a marketing campaign, on the take, an Arab-American masquerading as an African American to garner votes, a fomentor of racism and self-deluded about his own worth.

Now I see why you like him so much…. sad, very sad…. more than sad… actually its PATHETIC!!!

    Go Sarah!!!

Obama’s father is African American. His Mother is Caucasian. That makes him half of each. He is African American. He is NOT Arab. He is AMerican. He was born in Hawaii. His birth certificate has been verified.
McSame was a POW. He was also a traitor. Don’t believe me. Just look it up, google it. See for yourself who you are voting for. And look at what he is going to do to Seniors. They and you need to be terrified of what McCain is planning on doing to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. He’s planning on taking 1.3 trillion dollars from those. So you aren’t a senior yet? You will be hopefully one day. And perhaps you have a parent or other loved one or friend who depends on this? McSame is known as songbird by the former POW ’s he was held captive with. He is called Songbird for a reason. Don’t believe all the propaganda. I dont care who you vote for. I care about the truth being shared. You are falling for crap. Educate yourselves with an open mind. This info isn’t new, it’s been out there for decades, no one speaks of it becuase of McSame’s political connections. You are so wrong in believing this crap. Obama is going to win. Whether you or I want it is it going to happen. What then? Are you going to say he stole the election? Like the republicans have stolen it for the past two elections?

  29. kanzaz on October 14th, 2008 3:25 pm

Idiots like you continuing to say that he is an Arab-American with no basis are ridiculous. You aren’t even stating fact…just words. He is BLACK. Your information is incorrect…racist!

“TmCm/ Mangelo - guess you decided to attack and then retreat again - oh you are a brave one aren’t you.”

Once again, Sparkster, I implore you to check the ISP’s. It’s not a difficult thing. And also to answer why exactly I would bother creating dual accounts, if I were this Mangelo person.

As far as “attacking and retreating” goes, I’ve told you already; this is just a past-time to me. I’ve got better things to do than linger on these boards, waiting for one of your replies.

    kanzaz,

You are drugged by Obozo-speak. Wake up!!!

His father was 12.5% Kenyan which makes Obama (”the Obozo” for those who know him best) 6.25% African… that is half the legal limit for claiming minority status in America.

He is 43.75% Arab… and 50% Caucasian… whic makes him Arab-AMerican not African-American as he claims… he is only claming African-Amercian so he can ride on the coattails of the hard won progress we have made over the years as minorities and women…. he wants our vote so he will claim anything to get it.

I know being a kool-aid drinker will make it difficult for your to grasp the concept. If you were able to think clearly you would join us is this refrain…

    Go Sarah 2008!!!

An open letter to those voters who are voting for Obama based on Pro Choice

The issues before us are issues on the world stage and our economy. On those two issues, the inexperience of Obama and the class warfare of the democrats makes the McCain-Palin ticket the only answer. I am not for universal health care, higher taxes and in general the platform of the Democratic Party.

Drilling and the production of alternative fuels are a good way to start the process. The addition of wells, alternative fuels, and nuclear power will not only reduce the cost of fuel but it will produce an across the board reduction in the cost of living. And it will increase jobs in this economy - not across the sea, but here.

Then look at taxing the rich and the ridiculous class warfare that is being waged by the left. Look at Bill Gates; he is rich, very, very rich. But look at the industry he has developed. Not just the people Microsoft employs but the vast industries that have come from the development of Microsoft. Rich people spend and/or invest money and that fuels the economy. If we continue to punish our producers then we will see our producers move to other countries or just stop producing.

So there are many reasons to vote Republican, but many people are concerned about the protection of choice. I am a pro choice Republican. Those six words are bound to cause people on both the left and right to question my sanity. It almost seems as though pro choice and Republican are mutually exclusive words.

I remember with terror the years of back-alley abortions, coat-hangers, various different chemicals, and other different forms of desperation that resulted from an unwanted pregnancy. I worked hard to stand against the laws against legal abortions. Then, miraculously, there was Roe v Wade and I left the marching and vigils and letters and was happy to go on with my life.

The result was, though, that I voted Democratic for years. Then in 1994, when I was truly unhappy with many of my picks, I heard Republicans say that it was time to stop voting a single issue and I did. I have been at peace with that decision.

To me the pro choice v pro life issue is at its base a religious issue and so the right to choose comes under Freedom of Religion. Even from here I can hear so many of the most outspoken on the right screaming “it is murder and must be treated as such.” “There is no excuse for the taking of the life of the most innocent among us.” Well that argument only works if you believe that life begins at conception. Many, many people do believe that and with all of their hearts. The two top people on the Republican ticket have stated that, the Republican Platform states that, and many of the party faithful believe that. I am sure some on the Democratic side feel that.

So why would I tell you I am pro-choice and Republican? Because I don’t believe that life begins at conception and I have a lot of company including some religious teaching. The larger point though is there are some of us who do not belong to organized religion and by the wonderful words of the Constitution of the United States; Congress will make no law that establishes a religion. What that means to me is that the argument of when life begins is a belief and for some of us life begins at the quickening. That is why I do not have problem with the first trimester abortions.

So to those people that would vote for McCain except for his and Sarah’s pro-life stand, consider that the President cannot change Roe v Wade. He can appoint strict constitutionalist judges or he could ask Congress to propose legislation to pass a bill banning abortions, but the President and Vice President can not just call for a ban on abortions.

The arguments for a ban on abortions can, I feel be challenged. Take the ban on abortions in North Dakota; it could not pass unless there were exceptions: rape, incest, and life of the mother. Based on just that logic it would seem to me the argument cannot stand. I am not a lawyer but if people believe that abortion is murder, why do they get to decide when it is okay to commit that murder. So I feel that I must one more time look beyond the extreme sentiment of the party on social issues and look to the issues of government. I am in fact a Goldwater Republican. The Senator from Arizona felt that social issues should not be legislated. A careful reading of the Constitution backs that up.

I am comfortable voting on all of the other issues and leaving the pro life vs pro choice to the lawyers and if it is again an issue, I will be putting on my marching shoes and dusting off my signs.
