Barack Obama, ACORN, and how an army of “Ghost Voters” is being raised…

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now or ACORN  is an organization which has registered dead people, ghosts, convicted and incarcerated felons, and in a brazen PR move, the entire Dallas (TEXAS) Cowboys starting line-up as Nevada voters.

In doing this it has violated numerous state and federal laws, has had its offices raided by the FBI, and criminal investigations are currently underway against the organization in about a dozen states.

How is Barack Obama linked to this? Well according to an editorial in  Investors Business Daily  (IBD) how’s this for a start:

ACORN boasts registering a record 1.5 million new voters so far this election.

What does all this have to do with Obama, besides the fact that he’d be the beneficiary of most, if not all, of these new votes?

For starters, Obama paid ACORN, which has endorsed him for president, $800,000 to register new voters, payments his campaign failed to accurately report. (They were disguised in his FEC disclosure as payments to a front group called Citizen Services Inc. for “advance work.”)

What’s more, Obama worked as executive director of ACORN’s voter-registration arm, Project Vote, in 1992. Joined by two other community organizers on Chicago’s South Side, Obama conducted the voter-registration drive that helped elect Carol Moseley-Braun to the Senate that year.

The next year, 1993, Obama joined the civil-rights law firm Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland, where he sued the state of Illinois on behalf of ACORN to implement the federal “Motor Voter” law, which the GOP governor at the time refused to do. Then-Gov. Jim Edgar argued, presciently, that the Clinton law would invite voter fraud.

Obama downplays his ties to ACORN, and his campaign denies coordinating with ACORN to register voters.

A few of the states where ACORNs activities are under investigation? Courtesty of Hotair and Michelle Malkin:

  • Missouri – Officials now have to sift through hundreds of bogus applications submitted last August.
  • Connecticut – A criminal investigation has been opened into ACORN fraud.
  • Wisconsin – Registering convicted felons.
  • Ohio – ACORN tells Cuyahoga County’s election board that they can’t stop themselves from committing fraud.
  • Indiana – Over a thousand new applications from ACORN appear to investigators to be fraudulent, and that should be no surprise, since Indianapolis now has 105% of its population registered to vote.

Since Obama’s campaign has finally (albeit reluctantly) admitted to paying (at least) $800,000 to ACORN to register voters during the primary election, it stands to reason that registering non-existing people is neither a new development, nor an exception when it comes to ACORN

However, all that being what it is, let’s talk about one instance where I believe ACORN went from Phase I: registering Ghost Voters, to Phase II, casting ballots on behalf of Ghost Voters. I am talking about Lake County, Indiana.

Let us specifically go back to the Indiana Primary election on Tuesday May 6th, 2008 between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Here is an excerpt from what CNN had to say about that election:

As polls closed in Indiana, Clinton had a double-digit lead over Obama, but by the end of the evening, Clinton’s lead had shrunk, dragging the race out until early Wednesday.

A clear winner did not emerge until 1:15 a.m. Wednesday — seven hours after the polls closed — because results were slow to come in from Lake County, a Chicago suburb in northwestern Indiana with several precincts that went strongly for Obama.

By Wednesday morning, all absentee ballots had been counted in Lake County and the final results showed Obama had taken the county by 12 percentage points.

What has that got to do with anything you may wonder? Well let’s see what’s going on with ACORN in that part of the world right now. In an article from the NorthWest Indiana Times:

New voter registrations closed Monday in Lake County with possible record-breaking numbers and simmering allegations of fraud and racial discrimination.

Elections board Director Sally LaSota said more than 12,000 voter registration forms are waiting to be processed from recent days before the county knows how many potential voters are ready to cast ballots in the Nov. 4 general election.

“It may be a record,” she said.

LaSota said Monday representatives of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, a grassroots activist group conducting registration drives, dropped off 2,000 new voter applications last week in Lake County.

About 1,100 are no good,” she said.

LaSota said the flawed forms are incomplete or contain unreadable handwriting — similar to hundreds of other forms ACORN produced prior to this week. She said some ACORN vote canvassers apparently pulled names and addresses from telephone books and forged signatures.

Granted Lake County is just one county out of thousands of counties where ACORN is active, but if out of 2,000 thousand registrations 1100 are bogus, that means for every 2 people they claim to register, one does NOT exist. If 50% of those non-existing voters were to vote, their ballot would change the dynamic of any election singificantly. Well, that is exactly what happened in Lake County. Though Obama did not end up winning the state, his “victory” in that County alone changed the whole dynamic of the race, and where did he get his victory? Absentee ballots of course.

How was this pulled off? Speaking from personal experience, even though I now live in NYC, I lived for many years in Indiana, and quite a few times I requested to vote via absentee ballot. All I had to do was send my name, address and drivers license number or the last 4 digits of my Social Security number on the absentee ballot application form, and I automatically got a ballot sent to me.

Now, how difficult would it be for ACORN to compile a database with names, addresses and the last 4 digits of the Social Security Numbers (which are NOT verified by the state) of the ghost voters it registers? A database it then uses to request ballots, which it fills out in favor of its chosen candidates?

I have no proof to back this assertion, but I know for a fact that that is exactly what happened in Lake County, on May 6th, and I know it is bound to happen nationwide in the Presidential election.

As a second aside, Lake County encompasses the City of Gary, Indiana. I’ve never lived there, but went to college with lots of people who were from that area, have “rolled through” quite a few times, and have registered voters in the State. If there is one thing I’ve learnt, it’s that the population of Lake County is neither one that has a game-changing high turn-out on election day or votes overwhelmingly via absentee ballot.

As a third aside, and this is really troubling. Barack Obama gets donations from ghost contributors which it then funnels to ghost companies (Citizens Services Inc) which in turn use the money to register ghost voters, who in turn give him “their” vote. I am sorry, but as a registered voter, I am bewilderd and greatly disturbed that because of Barack Obama, not only my civil rights, but also my most fundamental right to vote and know my vote actually counts is being thrown out of the window in the general election just like it was in the Primaries…

My daughter borrowed my car last night to go out with her friends; so I get in it today and she has the radio tuned to the local college radio station; they were discussing problems with the vote; perked my ears right up. Do you think they were talking about ACORN ? No, they were talking about the mean old Republicans trying to ‘purge’ voters by checking registrations. Ecru-man is sure a master of the best defense is a good offense. How is it that his relationship with Ayers is silly but it’s OK to bring up but the zillion year old, what is it now the Keating 20 or something.

One of my daughter’s friends suggested that “older people” who were Hillary supporters should just not vote. Maybe it’s part of E-M’s steal all the votes plan.
Made me think of an article I recently read suggesting that no one under 25 be allowed to vote because their brains aren’t fully mature. That’s true, especially for boys. Think Obama and Ayers don’t know how to take advantage of that.

Anybody want to start a truly independent news source after this is over ; there seems to be no shame in one-sided coverage left. George Stupidolopus is making me gag!!!!

Cross-Posted @ NQ and TD, and sent to McCain/Palin:

There is something very important that we’re missing here and, miraculously, it was pointed out by a Democratic Party spokesman on Fox News (an attorney but appearing as a DEM spokesman).

However, he might be surprised to realize what he really said. He was trying to tamp down one fire (registration fraud) but, in doing so, he opened the door to something much more serious.

He’s right, there are two things at work here: (1) Registration and (2) Voting.

Acorn is involved in registration and they’re registering all saints, pro football players, suddenly arisen dead people and Peter Pan. Fine. As he points out, these people (if they exist), in order to vote, have to show up on election day and actually vote in order for this to make any difference. Fine.

[*Note: This does not account for the dragnet drunks and junkies campaign being run in Ohio where people are picked up off the street and taken to register and vote at the same time, without any proof of residence. And guess who they’re going to vote for — them that took them down there and gave them a cookie, or whatever they’re giving them. That’s called “buying votes” where I come from but I guess Acorn thinks it’s just “giving somebody a ride and a shot of Jack Daniels.”]

But, here’s what we’re missing in the uproar [yes, harrassing people and registering the same person 77 times is wrong and, if they use different SSN’s and phone numbers and addresses, they could register in different precincts and actually vote more than once so no, it’s not “harmless” fraud as the DEMS and ACORN would like you to believe.

But, the other issue. VERY serious and very damning of the whole operation, and the former ACORN trainer and ACORN endorsement recipient, Obama, is this.

These people have had FEDERAL funds channelled to them. By Senator Obama and others. They would have channeled tens of millions of additional dollars to them through the finance rescue bill that was just passed if the Republicans, yes, including John McCain, hadn’t caught them and stopped the train of gravy in its tracks.

People who say John McCain did nothing by coming back to Washington to talk with his party and the President and address the crisis have not done one very simple thing. Looked at the bill the Democrats wanted to pass, and even waved around claiming they had the votes to pass, even though they clearly didn’t — vs — the bill that did pass.

ACORN is not in it.

But they tried. And ACORN on Capitol Hill is none other than Chief Acorn, Barack Obama.

So, look beyond the high-shock-value story about these registrations and realize what’s behind this thing. A nationwide organization (remember the term “organizer” — that’s where Obama cut his teeth — if he has a skill, this is it — and ACORN is his organization army) dedicated to mobilizing Democrat voters, registering, collecting voter data, calling, rallying, mobilizing.

Do we not remember who it was who showed up in all those caucus states and took over the caucuses, intimidating people, locking people out, busing people in, rounding up college kids, pumping up the crowd and — basically — delivering caucus states to Obama? It was ACORN, people.

CONCLUSION: This is one of the grandest scams in the history of American politics. Barack Obama has managed to arrange for the federal government itself, i.e., the American taxpayer, to funnel money to his voter canvasing, voter registration and get-out-the-vote campaign.

ACORN, for all intents and purposes, might as well be part of the Obama campaign staff. And, yet, they are being paid, in part, by millions of dollars of federal money.

ACORN = OBAMA = ACORN

I close with a quote from Obama himself, speaking to ACORN leaders in November, 2007:

“I come out of a grassroots organizing background. That’s what I did for three and half years before I went to law school. That’s the reason I moved to Chicago was to organize. So this is something that I know personally, the work you do, the importance of it. I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.”

The Acorn does not fall far from the tree.

Past is Prologue.

[Thanks for that quote, Joe. Though it was inane when you said it, it might well become the theme of the McCain/Palin campaign.]

Read up on Saul Alinsky (Rules for Radicals) and listen to Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn addressing the SDS reunion; a big picture emerges.

Cluck cluck cluck PUMA’S: As his ‘ex’ preacher said, ‘The chickens are coming home to roost’. Look at CNN online today, ACORN is busted again! (and it’s on the MSM – shocker!) Well, it looks like the ‘truth’ (or rather truths) about the messiah may come out to light after all!
Although, as I mentioned, we really need a group prayer for the economy (not just because a poor one hurts McCain), because people are really in trouble right now. So please let’s keep them in our thoughts and hearts. Good hardworking Americans retirement is in trouble, their jobs, their homes, and that’s really sad and disheartening. God Bless America!

Communist guru
Saul Alinsky’s son: “Obama learned his lesson well”
By Judi McLeod Tuesday, September 2, 2008

Saul Alinsky, Barack ObamaIn Artful Dodger style, Barack Obama, plays down his mentorship with Communist author Saul Alinsky. But Alinsky’s son, L. David Alinsky, credits Obama for “learning his lesson well” from the Communist guru.

Indeed, Alinsky Jr. who credits his late father for the success of last week’s Democratic National Convention, may have done something that Obama’s detractors couldn’t: blown the cover on the presidential hopeful’s communist leanings.

No one can blame Alinsky for the pretentiousness of the Ancient Greek Temple from which Obama addressed plebes, or for the tacky neon colours on display at the Pepsi Centre, but it was Alinsky who wrote Rules for Radicals, the bible of the far left.

Says Alinsky’s son L. David Alinsky of his father’s influence at the Dem Convention: “ALL the elements were present: the individual stories told by real people of their situation and hardships, the packed-to-the rafters crowd, the crowd’s chanting of key phrases and names, the action on the spot of texting and phoning to show instant support and commitment to jump into the political battle, the rallying selections of music, the setting of the agenda by the power people.”

“The Democratic National Convention had all the elements of the perfectly organized event, Saul Alinsky style, the Communist guru’s son wrote in a letter published yesterday in the Boston Globe.

The Artful Dodger may be less than pleased that he has been pegged as a Saul Alinsky Poster Boy by the guru’s own son.

“Barack Obama’s training in Chicago by the great community organizers is showing its effectiveness,” Alinsky Jr. wrote to the Globe. “It is an amazingly powerful format, and the method of my late father always works to get the message out and get the supporters on board. When executed meticulously and thoughtfully, it is a powerful strategy for initiating change and making it really happen. Obama learned his lesson well.

“I am proud to see that my father’s model for organizing is being applied successfully beyond local community organizing to affect the Democratic campaign in 2008. It is a fine tribute to Saul Alinsky as we approach his 100th birthday.”

Alinsky should be reminded that the West has stared down communism everywhere it has raised its hideous head.

influencing a Democratic convention from the grave pales in comparison to the results that followed President Ronald Reagan’s famous words, “Mr. Gorbachev, take down this wall.”

The commonsense and freedom-loving Gipper would have chuckled at the audacity of Obama’s Ancient Greek Temple stage setting and would have told Obama what he told the world: “All great change in America begins at the dinner table.”

Reagan also said: “I have seen the rise and fall of Nazi tyranny, the subsequent cold war and the nuclear nightmare that for 50 years haunted the dreams of children everywhere. During that time my generation defeated totalitarianism. As a result, your world is poised for better tomorrows. What will you do on your journey?”

“Alinsky considered himself a realist above all, the ultimate pragmatist.” (American Thinker, Aug. 30, 2008). “As a confirmed atheist, Alinsky believed that the here and now is all there is, and therefore had no qualms about assorted versions of morality in the pursuit of worldly power. He didn’t coddle his radical acolytes or encourage their bourgeois distinctions between good and evil when it came to transferring power from the Haves to the Have Nots. Alinsky saw the already formed church communities as being the perfect springboards for agitation and creating bonds for demanding goods and services.”

Obama followed the same path.

It is a fact that activist-cum senator Barack Hussein Obama started off his career as an activist with a position as a community organizer for the Developing Communities Project (DCP) of the Calumet Community Religious conference (CCRC) in Chicago. Both the CCRC and the DCP were built on the Alinsky model of community agitation, wherein paid organizers learned, in Alinsky’s own words, how to “rub raw the sores of discontent”.

Meanwhile L. David Alinsky, perhaps unwittingly put Obama into the proper perspective by stating without reservation: “Obama learned his lesson well.”

Sorry, I thought I deleted the first part.

#7 One4Justice on 10.10.08 at 7:08 am

Another news article this morning about ACORN:

“And in Lake County, home to the long-depressed steel town of Gary, the bipartisan Elections Board has stopped processing a stack of about 5,000 applications delivered just before the October 6 registration deadline after the first 2,100 turned out to be phony.

‘All the signatures looked exactly the same,’ Ruthann Hoagland, a Republican on the board. ‘Everything on the card filled out looks exactly the same.’ ”

Makes me wonder if there’s an analogy between the way that ACORN would rather make up fake names than really do the work and find people to honestly register, and the way people would like to sit around and collect welfare all day instead of doing the work to find a job.

Good Morning PUMA’s…

Check out the Washington Times this morning, there is an article about BO’s attempts to sway Iraqi troop pullout deal. Also, BO’s ties to Acorn payments. Well, well, well…the 411 is coming out, and the implosion may be in effect after all. It may just be that the MSM can’t stifle ALL the lies after all.

#16 Bill Levinson on 10.11.08 at 11:32 pm

It’s not just ACORN

Google on “Lyn Utrecht” (Hillary Clinton’s campaign counsel) and “Obama” for credible allegations of voter intimidation and other forms of election fraud in the Nevada and Texas caucuses. We have a systematic pattern of credibly alleged, and proven in the case of ACORN (several guilty pleas) behavior that suggests Obama is no better than a would-be banana republic dictator.

In a democracy, we accept the will of the majority, unless the “majority” includes voters like Dick Tracy, Mary Poppins, and Jive Turkey, all of whom were registered by ACORN. Voter fraud undermines our democracy by destroying voter confidence in the process.

The Republican voter fraud hoax
Donald Duck and the Dallas Cowboys won’t steal the election for Obama. Acorn’s only crime is registering Democratic voters

Brad Friedman
guardian.co.uk, Monday October 13 2008 20.30 BST

Barack Obama and the Democrats are stealing the election. Massive voter fraud is being carried out, even as we speak, by their henchmen, known by the innocuous sounding Association for Community Organisations for Reform Now, or Acorn. Clever bastards.

The only problem? Despite the screaming wall-to-wall coverage of “Democratic voter fraud in 11 swing states” as seen on Fox News and even the once-respectable CNN, none of it’s true. None of it.

In just the last week, we’ve had a phoney stunt raid in swing state Nevada (where Acorn had been cooperating with officials for months, concerning problem canvassers they’d long ago fired); a Republican election official in swing state Missouri tell Fox News that she’s being beseiged with fraudulent registration forms from Acorn (in a county where they’ve not done any registration work since August); a Republican sheriff in swing state Ohio, who, the very next day, suddenly requested the names and addresses of hundreds of early voters (with evidence of exactly zero wrong doing, but lots of Democratic-leaning college student in the particular county, and John McCain’s state campaign chair as a partner in the investigation); and a screaming front page headline in Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post about a guy who claims he was somehow tricked by Acorn into registering 72 times (but read the article closely to note he says he registered at the same address each time, which, even if true, would allow him – you guessed it – precisely one legal vote.)

It’s an old Republican scam, but it’s never been carried out with more zeal than this year. The Republicans have been putting so much time, money and resources into the propaganda leading up to this over the last four years, we should have expected no less.

As luck would have it, the Democrats have a man who, as an attorney years ago, actually had the temerity to join the US department of justice in representing Acorn in a successful lawsuit, forcing the state of Illinois to follow the law by allowing citizens to register to vote at the department of motor vehicles. What a scoundrel.

That, of course, was before the department of justice, under George Bush’s corrupt command, would itself become politicised by the very Republicans so desperate to keep low-income voters from voting, that they were willing to fire their own US attorneys for failing to bring phoney charges of voter fraud in key swing states like Nevada and Missouri.

So what are the crimes that have caused all the Sturm und Drang on US television and talk radio, and in several otherwise respectable newspapers and even by the McCain campaign itself?

The only actual crime here is that Acorn managed to register some 1.3m low-income (read: Democratic-leaning) voters over the past two years. The rest is, pretty much, just made up.

But in the bloody and desperate trenches of the Republican war on democracy, that’s more than enough to kick in a last minute surge of lies that may – with the help of a compliant and lazy corporate US media – wreak enough havoc, scare enough voters, confuse enough people and plant enough seeds to call an Obama victory into doubt on November 4.

If you can’t win it, steal it. If you can’t steal it, claim the other guy stole it. If you can’t claim the other guy stole it (yet), say they’re about to and then kick up smoke that maybe someone will believe you. (Heckuva job, CNN.)

Here are the facts. Acorn verifies the legitimacy of every registration its canvassers collect. If they can’t authenticate the registration, or it’s incomplete or questionable in other ways, they flag that form as problematic (”fraudulent”, “incomplete”, et cetera). They then hand in all registration forms, even the problematic ones, to elections officials, as they are required to do by law. In almost every case where you’ve heard about fraud by Acorn, it’s because Acorn itself notified officials about the fraud that’s been perpetrated on them by rogue canvassers. Most officials who run to the media screaming “Acorn is committing fraud” know all of the above but don’t bother to share those facts with the media they’ve run to. None of this is about voter fraud. None of it. Where any fraud has occurred, it’s voter registration fraud and has resulted in exactly zero fraudulent votes.

You’ll hear that Donald Duck, Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy, Mickey Mouse and (new this year) the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys football team have all had fraudulent registrations submitted in their names. That’s true. And we know this, why? Because Acorn told officials about it when they followed the law and turned in those registrations, flagged as fraudulent.

What you won’t hear is that federal law requires anybody who does not register to vote in person at the county office to show an ID when they go to vote the first time. So, unless Donald Duck shows up with his ID, he won’t be voting this November. You needn’t worry, no matter how much even John McCain himself cynically and dishonourably tries to mislead you.

If it quacks like a duck, in this case, it’s likely another Republican Acorn voter fraud lie. They haul it out every two years.

Just days before the 2004 presidential election, rightwing whack job Michelle Malkin claimed that Acorn was registering terrorists to vote in swing state Ohio. Problem was, that was a lie.

In 2006, again just days before the election, the new US attorney in swing state Missouri (recently appointed, since the one before him refused to bring such charges), filed voter fraud indictments against Acorn workers in the state. Problem was, bringing election-related indictments that close to an election was a violation of the department of justice’s own written policy. And Acorn had nothing to do with it, other than turning in the employees to officials.

Getting the picture? It’s a hoax. All of it.

But it’s been an effective one, as it’s served to distract from very real concerns about tens of thousands of voters who have been illegally purged from the voting rolls in dozens of states, as the New York Times reported in a remarkable front page investigative story. That story followed a report the week before from CBS News detailing still more wholesale purges of voting rolls in some 20 states.

That will be the November surprise, when thousands, if not millions show up to vote only to find they are no longer welcome to do so and are forced to vote on a “provisional ballot” which may or may not be counted.

These real concerns of election fraud, such as voting roll purges, electronic voting machines that don’t work and so much more that actually matters, have been obscured by the smoke and mirrors and sleight of hand of the Republican party’s phoney Acorn voter fraud charade.

And where they can, they’ll parlay it all into new photo ID restrictions at the polls (knowing full well that some 20m, largely Democratic-leaning voters don’t own the type of ID they’d need to jump over that next Republican hurdle.)

Yet, with all of the unsubstantiated, wholly bogus claims of voter fraud being carried out by Democrats, there remains at least one case of absolutely ironclad, documented, yet still-unprosecuted case of voter fraud that, for some reason, Republicans don’t much like to talk about.

We can only wonder why.
