IMPLOSION Continues: Et tu, New Jersey?

What in heaven’s name is happening? Wait, could the PUMAs have been right all along? Is Obama truly unelectable? Could he really lose New York and New Jersey?

Well, according to the latest Quinnipiac Poll, Obama and McCain are virtually tied in NJ, directly as a result of the fact that Obama lost 7 points in that state in the last one month.

For your reading pleasure, a few choice excerpts from the poll:

The contest between Barack Obama and John McCain in New Jersey is too close to call, with a new Quinnipiac University poll showing the battle for the state’s fifteen electoral votes at 48%-45% among likely voters. Obama led McCain by ten percentage points, 51%-41% in an August Quinnipiac poll.

This is the fourth independent poll within the last week to show New Jersey as an emerging battleground state in the presidential campaign. A Monmouth University/New Jersey poll released this morning shows Obama leading by 8 points, and a Marist College poll released Friday night had identical numbers to Quinnipiac, 48%-45%. A Fairleigh Dickinson University poll from last week had Obama up by six points.

“The McCain-Palin ticket has narrowed the gap dramatically, but it will take more than this post convention bounce for the Republicans to win in true blue New Jersey. The upcoming debates probably will provide a clue to whether Sen. McCain can build on his current momentum, or whether the tide will turn back to the Democrats,” said Clay F. Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

and interestingly enough:

McCain’s surge has come primarily from white voters, the poll says. White voters back McCain 56%-36% — up from 50%-42% in August, while Black voters, by a 93%-7% margin, are voting for Obama — up from 94%-1%. McCain leads among men (53%-40%), while Obama is ahead 54%-38% among women. But white women back McCain 50%-42% (46%-44% in August). Among independents, the lead has shifted from Obama (45%-42%0 to McCain (47%-43%).

I guess for Obama to get 93% of the black vote is to be expected, when people like Joe Biden tell blacks to vote for Obama because he is black.

Oh well…

    Implosion? How about self delusion? McCain got a blip from Palin (now there is an implosion for real), but Obama is back up 5 points on average.

    Really, you’re incredible – Hilary loses so McCain is now your man.

    I keep seeing Obama even or up in North Carolina. Yet, in my District I can’t find over two or three people that say they will vote for Obama. I still don’t put a lot of faith in polls. When Kerry ran against Bush the media had Kerry up over six points over Bush. After Bush was elected CNN kept saying they just didn’t understand how the polls got it so wrong. I understand, it depends on what area the polls are taken and how bad the media wants certain candidates to come out ahead. I stand firm, the media is not going to tell me who to vote for. I do enough research on the candidates without the media bias we get. Obama will not get elected from everything I’ve been able to come up with. The truth about Obama is not put out by the media and never will be. Basically Obama is a do nothing know nothing but good with flapping his kisser.

    I agree Michaelene but would add that most of the Obama supporters that I’ve talked to can only answer McCain is another George Bush as their reason for supporting Obama. I work at getting them realize that a dishonest and arrogant Democrat will be no better than a dishonest and arrogant Republican. It’s dishonesty and arrogance that make for a bad president.

    Polls are only good as the questions that were posed to illicit a response.

    I don’t put to much faith in the polls either.

    MJRJ you are absolutely correct on your poll analysis. My mother for the first time abstained from voting when Kerry ran – she hated Bush but disliked Kerry even more – enter Obama – for the first time ever – she will be voting for a Republican.

    The Democrats of the 1960′s no longer exist – I have no idea what we have sitting up in those seats now – because they sure don’t act like Democrats.

    Polls that favor Obama = LIES! FILTHY, FILTHY LIES!

    Just wanted to make sure I’m clear on the rules here. Because, you know, I keep seeing the RCP polling averages that have Obama up by 18% in New York and 8.6% in NJ.

    I’m sure those are just bits of liberal propaganda, tho.

    TmCm – Just to make sure that I am clear -the polls showed that John Kerry was winning in a landlside on the polls in 2004 and we know how that ended up.

    Make sure that you have you nose firmly on the screen so that you don’t miss the polls go up or down you sad pathetic creature.

    Resorting to swearing – awe, couldn’t you find another place to pass your time – you know – some place where people actually are interested in what you say and take it for face value – try pathological liars anonymous groups online -they would listen – and help – and maybe you can find a life long friend -somebody you can “pass your time” with.
