At times I feel like it's just me against the world...

I may be really dense here, but to what email title is the article referring?

Ads like this make me ill. I wish both candidates would stop this nonsense so we could actually judge them accurately. For Obama that would mean political suicide, but I think I could live with that… :-D

  • HARDT

Obama also PIMPs us black people too….but they’re usually too dumb to get it. Now I understand why “progressives” fight against school choice/vouchers….they need blacks and all minorities to stay as dumb as possible in order to have a platform. He’s a poverty pimp!

  • just_an_observer

i think that we could agree that this “attack ad” has its faults, but I don’t see how you arrive at the conclusion that obama considers “old folks” to be “idiots” and that he doesn’t need (or want) their vote. isn’t that a stretch?

wouldn’t your point be better served by questioning the necessity of a president to know how to use a computer and/or email? you alluded to this at the end, but it was more of a passing thought than a criticism of the advertisement.

for example, wouldn’t it be more useful to question obama’s understanding of what it means to lead or be a leader?

regardless, i fail to see how you arrived at the conclusion of: obama thinks old people are idiots and he doesn’t need their vote.

HARDT is clearly a racist. HARDT, would you like to lynch some of these ‘dumb’ blacks that you’re referring too?

Anyways, to see McCain at his best, go to Google and search for:
John Mccain — In His Own Words ! bravenewfilms

  • Sparky

Why Angela – more rhetoric spin on McCain. You can find just as many good google links for McCain as you would bad – same with the messiah. It all depends on the author, his or her message and the audience members.

I think what Hardt is trying to explain that if you keep the blacks in welfare it is not teaching them to take care of themselves. They are kept to reliant on the government to take care of them. This is almost described as socialism.

Hardt – this was a great article written by an black author (I’d say African American but my neighors are black and they hate when people use that phrase). It pretty much sums up what you were trying to explain:

Peterson explained how the trap of welfare dependency had captured him in a downward spiral:

In fact, I found it amazingly easy to get on welfare and simply live off the system. I signed up in Los Angeles and started receiving $300 a month. In addition, the system paid my rent and supplied me with food stamps, free medical coverage, and other benefits. I was making the white man pay me back for all the oppression I thought I’d been subjected to in the past. So I partied with that money, caroused with women, and lived a fairly degenerate life. I thought I had it made.

But while on welfare, things didn’t get better. They got worse. The more money I got from welfare, the less desire I had to work. It became spiritually and morally suffocating.

For Peterson, the key to breaking out of this debilitating welfare dependency demanded that he reject the rage he felt almost unconsciously for whites.

That themes of African American responsibility are being openly expressed and debated marks a shift in the debate on racial injustice in America. Up to now, liberal Democrats, who have defined the politically correct themes that may be expressed without criticism, have largely owned the terms of the debate. Anyone arguing themes of black responsibility, even if the critics are themselves African Americans, runs the risk of being labeled as racists, part of the problem, not the solution. Raising his voice in opposition to what he considers a black leadership that exploits African Americans has not been easy for Jesse Lee Peterson.

As it happens, John McCain DOES know how to use a computer, and in fact pioneered Web-based campaigning in 2000.

    From PowerLine (http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives2/2008/09/021498.php):

McCain “can’t send an email?” That’s true, actually, as Jonah Goldberg explains:

The reason he doesn’t send email is that he can’t use a keyboard because of the relentless beatings he received from the Viet Cong in service to our country. From the Boston Globe (March 4, 2000):

McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain’s encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He’s an avid fan – Ted Williams is his hero – but he can’t raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.

Obama’s attack has unleashed a torrent of outrage; Glenn Reynolds has a roundup here. This excerpt from a 2000 Forbes article about McCain’s pioneering web-based campaign is noteworthy:

In certain ways, McCain was a natural Web candidate. Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate’s savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. “She’s a whiz on the keyboard, and I’m so laborious,” McCain admits.

I guess now we’ll find out whether Barack Obama is capable of shame.

Another example of just how clueless Obama and his staffers are. The Boston Globe explained why McCain can’t use a keyboard back in 2000:

McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain’s encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He’s an avid fan – Ted Williams is his hero – but he can’t raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.

After Vietnam, McCain had Ann Lawrence, a physical therapist, help him regain flexibility in his leg, which had been frozen in an extended position by a shattered knee. It was the only way he could hope to resume his career as a Navy flier, but Lawrence said the treatment, taken twice a week for six months, was excruciatingly painful.

”He endured it, he wouldn’t settle for less,” said Lawrence, who rejoiced with McCain when he passed the Navy physical. ”I have never seen such toughness and resolve.”

Obama pulled the ad from everywhere but his website within a few hours.

I used to be worried about his lack of experience and extreme leftist views and designs for our country. Now I’m a lot more worried about his recklessness and laziness (couldn’t anyone have Nexus’d this BEFORE placing the ad?).

I’m voting for McCain-Palin, but I’d not only much rather have Hillary as president than this clown, I’d rather have CHELSEA as president than Obama!!

What’s next, Senator O? Find McCain’s mother and kick her walker out from under her? Maybe go by his house and shoot a pet or two? Ridicule his youngest daughter’s cleft palate?

    Get a clue, you LOSER!

  • roguetrekker

Well said, RecentlyEnlightened. More people need to know this. It is truly disgusting that Obama couldn’t figure this out. No wonder O is running out of money constantly making ads that need to be pulled. He did not pull it from his site though witch tells me something about his character and another message he is sending out. Not only does he not want the Old Folks vote, but apparently he doesn’t want the disabled person votes either. As a disabled person myself, that just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

  • WasHRCnowPalin

I am not surprised that Obama keeps shooting himself in the foot…..

… but it never ceases to amaze me just how fast he can reload!!!!

    Sarah 2008!!! Hillary 2012!!!
