Patriotism: Obama Style

September 5, 2008 by PUMA Pundit

I’ve always wondered what the story was with his McCain’s right arm; it seems he has difficulty moving it properly. Well my question was answered when he spoke about how he broke both arms when he was shot down over Vietnam, and how his broken bones were merely thrown in a cast by his captors.

Till today, his physique bears a testament to his harrowing odyssey in captivity. I don’t know the exact time line, but he could have come back to the States much sooner if he had sold out his principles. By coming home sooner, he could have received proper medical care, and might have recovered the full use of his right arm. Thankfully, he put country over self-interest and though he is still physically paying the price till today, his story of patriotism is an inspiration to millions of people.

Which brings me up to the issue of the community organizer who is now striving to be President, Barack Obama. In May, he stopped wearing a flag-pin because he wanted to tell the American People what patriotism ought to mean on his terms. In fact, while campaigning in Cedar Rapids, Iowa he explained his decision by stating:

“I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest, Instead, I‘m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great and, hopefully, that will be a testimony to my patriotism.”

Ok, let me get this straight, Obama feels he is going to tell us what he believes will make this country great! Obama believes that by NOT displaying the flag on his lapel it would make him a patriot?

I guess to Barack Obama, America is not great as it is. I guess to Barack Obama deliberately detaching all semblance of national significance to our flag is a testament to his patriotism.

Well, I’ve got news for him, America is, has been, and shall be great. Patriotism is not shown via one’s words, empty actions or exercises in self-importance. It is shown when one’s back is to the wall, and s/he either fights or takes flight. McCain did the former, Obama has yet to show he would do anything but the latter.

Ad76 you are making me sick. How dumb can you possibly be? Do you really believe this crap you write? 1) McCain did give sensitive information to his captures. I don’t blame him, the man went thru hell. 2)The fact that you heard him explain his injury but didn’t hear him admit his weakness rite after it, is mind bending to me. So let me get this rite, wearing a Flag Pin makes you patriotic? Hmm AD76 85,000 americans lost their last month, be Patriotic and write something usefull

Did anyone notice that Sarah Palin doesn’t wear an American flag pin? And that the omnipresent American flag background used on teh Republican stage this week mysteriously disappeared when she spoke? It was just a black screen? And her husband was a member of a secessionist party in Alaska? And do you notice how close Alaska is to Russia?

Conclusion: Sarah Palin is a commie. Make her wear an American Flag pin to show her patriotism. If she won’t send her to Gitmo. She scares me–and if she won’t wear an American flag pin, we know she’s an enemy agent.

Lizjames - you are obviously blind - there WAS a huge flag behind her at the end of her speech. During the speech, they were flashing pictures of Alaska and other great states.

Selective seeing. Spin, spin, troll, troll….

She did not. The flag disappeared from the background until other people came on stage with her. And she doesn’t wear a flag pin at any time. Check the Alaska Governor’s website. Her official photo has no flag or flag pin. Her official photo gallery has eight photos–and seven has no flag. And, by the way, she gave out the date of her son’s deployment to a war zone, a violation of federal law.

What do we know of this woman. I think she’s a commumist. Why won’t she wear a flag pin. We shamed Obambi into it and she should be shamed into it. If she won’t we know she’s a commie snuck in to America across the Bering Straight.

    Commie. Commie. Commie.

I don’t think George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, FDR, or JFK ever wore flag pins. Come to think of it, neither did Ronald Reagan. I guess they weren’t patriotic.

    mature:
McCain did admit that they broke him. His speech might be worth a second look. He said that they broke him and that he went through emotional hell afterward until one of his fellow captors helped him through it. I thought it took some guts to admit in front of a bunch of red neck Republicans that he gave the enemy information.

A little off topic but…Why is Obama saying he’s going to keep the focus between himself and McCain but is now dispatching Hillary to spread his message.

I thought she did wonderfully at the DNC but I really hope she doesn’t get pulled into Obama’s “campaign tactics”. If this blows up in his face, I don’t want to see HRC damaged by it. The Democratic Party has already inflicted a great injustice on her; this to me is adding insult to injury.

mccain didn’t wear a flag pin when he introduced palin as vp.

  8. Renshaw on September 5th, 2008 12:57 pm

So, we can surmise that McCain isn’t patriotic either. Remember, the flag pin is the test.

do you think bush was wearing a flag pin when he decided on having a war with iraq?

  10. Sparky on September 5th, 2008 1:41 pm

It wasn’t the fact if they wore a flag pin or not, it was the reason WHY he wouldn’t wear it.

Your comments are very weak at best.

ANYONE who doesn’t wear a flag pin is a suspect. Palin, McCain, Obambi. Wear it with pride or face the wrath of PUMAs everywhere.

NO flag pin = commie. We know Obambi is one. Now, obviously, McCain and Palin are, too.

Time to call them out on this with a massive campaign. This is IMPORTANT. I’m especially worried about Palin.

HA! Are you for real? Wear a pin to show you love your country, because you SAY that’s what it means to love your country?

Come on - you guys aren’t really Democrats, are you?

  13. aha on September 5th, 2008 3:22 pm

Who cares if someone wears or doesn’t wear a flag pin? Patriotism isn’t wearing a stupid pin, it’s what you do that counts. I think Hilary Clinton would agree, don’t you?
