Talking about feminism…
September 4, 2008 by PUMA Pundit
Interesting article I read in my home-town paper of choice, the New York Post.
On that stage last night, Sarah Palin represented everything the feminist movement claims to strive for: a successful working woman with a happy family life and a husband who helps raise the children. Yet, rather than hailing her accomplishment, the feminist establishment has sat by silently as she’s savaged for being a working mother.
Turns out old feminism is really just a bunch of good ‘ole girls telling you what to think.
Ladies, don’t you worry your pretty little heads about deciding what you believe; the audaciously named National Organization for Women is here to speak on your behalf.
NOW put out a press release saying that Sarah Palin doesn’t speak for women’s rights. That’s NOW’s job.
Except if a conservative woman is being smeared in the media with sexist attacks and held to a completely different standard than her male counterparts. Then NOW has nothing to say about women’s rights.
Time for a little truth in advertising…
Hmmmm….
Exit Question: Is “feminism” thrown out of the window if Obama is in the equation?

I completely agree. Now I’ve heard the Gloria Steinem has denigrated Palin. This is a person I have always admired. My husband has teasingly called me ‘Gloria’ in the past because of my firm belief in the equality of women. Now that there is a strong, principled, pro-life woman on the Republican ticket, Gloria slams her as being the anti-feminist? Sadly, I see that the definition of a feminist has been pigeon-holed to mean pro-abortion and radical-left only. I think the time for these hard-line points of view is past and it’s time to embrace the differences as well as the similarities in all women. One size does not fit all!
The Democratic Party has sadly become a small tent… only the fringe left will find a resting place in it now.. that became evident in this election… women and especially women with moderate or conversative views need not apply!!
Go Sarah!!!
