If Ignorance is Bliss, Biden Would Be The Happiest Man Alive…
September 3, 2008 by PUMA Pundit
Normally, people have SNAFUs all the time, no biggie right? However, when a person says: “he know(s) as much as anyone in government about” national security and foreign policy, and then displays ignorance about what he is talking about, well, in the immortal words of Apollo 10 (or is it 13) “Houston We Have a Problem“.
For the third time in the last week, Joe Biden has again displayed his ignorance about basic military formations, Jake Tapper of ABCNews tells us how this about our very own Senator Councilor Biden (hey if he can call a Brigade a Batallion, then we can call a Senator a Councilor, right?):
[H]eralding his own experience, Biden also said he “know(s) as much as anyone in government about” national security and foreign policy.
And for the third time since his acceptance speech a week ago, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee confused battalions and brigades.
“Over a year and a half ago,” Biden said of Obama. “He said we need two more combat battalions in Afghanistan.”
Actually, Obama called for two more combat brigades.
For those who don’t know, and Biden self-admittedly does know, a brigade is composed of a varying number of battalions.

You tell me, which is worse… Confusing a battalion and a brigade (Biden), or confusing Sunni and Shia (McCain, with instructional reminders whispered in his ear by helpful Joe Lieberman)?
You’re serving up some serious weak-sauce on this one.
jfx -was this before or after Obama never head a negative word out of his spiritual mentor erst while visiting all 57 states?
Sparky, for someone who claims to be a “pro-choice moderate”, you seem to be popping up all over the PUMA pages as McCain’s personal fluffer.
Were you in favor of invading and occupying Iraq? Are you in favor of privatizing Social Security? Do you think Roe v. Wade should be overturned? Should any American be forced to choose between groceries and healthcare? Should women be paid less than men for doing the same jobs?
Tell me, are you a “pro-choice moderate”, or a lame Republican shill, here to do your masters’ bidding?
Should adolescents be taught about what’s happening to their bodies sexually, what sex is, how it works, and how to minimize the risks of unwanted pregnancy or disease if they should decide to have sex with someone they love?
Or should they just be taught, “Don’t have sex!”, which is like saying “Don’t breathe!” or “Don’t eat!” or “Don’t sleep!”
C’mon, show us how “moderate” you are. I’m assuming the baseline for moderation is some degree of common sense. Show us your deep grasp of the issues. Or do you only know how to bash Barack? Look, I can use his middle name also, but in a constructive, non-fear-mongering way:
-Barack HUSSEIN Obama is Pro-Choice, and wants to nominate progressive Supreme Court justices who will PROTECT a woman’s right to choose.
-Barack HUSSEIN Obama is Pro-Equal Pay for Equal Work
-Barack HUSSEIN Obama wants to protect Social Security, not privatize it!
-Barack HUSSEIN Obama wants every American to have health insurance.
-Barack HUSSEIN Obama wants families AND schools to properly educate young people about sex so they can make informed decisions. Abstinence-only programs do not “educate,” they keep young people in the dark, out of fear, shame, and paranoia about basic human biology.
-Barack HUSSEIN Obama understands you can’t promote democracy through invasion and occupation. A doctrine of “pre-emption” is a great way to create more terrorists….and refugees.
Sparky, I really can’t see how any “pro-choice moderate” with a drop of common sense would choose the decidedly arch-conservative McCain/Palin ticket this year, even considering all the bitterness and spite regarding the “Hillary” fiasco.
Unless….of course…..people such as yourself aren’t really “pro-choice moderates” in the first place…..but rather GOP hacks *incognito* trying (and badly failing) to stir up discord on the Democratic side. Which, incidentally, is more unified at this moment than at any time in recent memory, PUMAs notwithstanding.
Because, of course, ultimately it’s not about the candidates. It’s about the issues. As we’ve seen over the last decade, the flag-waving, chest-thumping conservatism of Bush/Cheney/McCain/Palin is just the surface gloss of a kind of repressed, reactionary denial of reality, a Candy-Land ideology where the Earth’s climate is just fine (polar bears just need to learn how to swim better!), humans did not descend from lower primates (God made us, *special*, out of thin air! *POOF!*), and, of course SEX is EVIL….unless you’re married of course, and then only if you do it face to face in the dark.
POUNCE, PUMA Sparky, POUNCE!
